A special gratitude to @rocksea for his enthusiastic query (during #OSM2020 at San Diego) about the air and water circulation over South Asia, which then partially lead to the computation of the atmospheric water overturning stream function.
Agree, a GREAT group of Earth and and ocean scientists to work with on the #OSM2020 session and the paper!
For me the highlight was working with a fantastic group of co-authors: @profcgarza @lisatoafault @doctorbjones @JonLewis4Earth Mona Behl, Sharon Cooper, and Sarah Kolesar.
The paper is based on a session at #OSM2020, and hopefully will help to bring attention to some great initiatives we heard about at that meeting.
Around that time, I went to a session at #OSM2020 & first learned about #Julia. The fact that this was a programming language that could be used by oceanographers, ecologists, fisheries scientists, & climate modelers was super exciting!
Wow, 12 months & a whole different world ago, when our postgrad students went to present at #OSM2020 #AGU w only some vague concerns about US travel bans. Here's hoping we can get back to this kind of international scientific collaboration...someday

By the time COVID-19 hit, we had conducted 5 interviews, attended @theAGU's #OSM2020, and released ~10 episodes from these conversations. However, wanting to be safe, we paused interviews and started to share stories of historically significant science & scientists 👩🔬 (4/6)
