So SunSoft‘s OpenStep Solaris (this is the inofficial 1.1 release) works on Solaris 9 (well several bugs, y2k problem, etc) but could have a very very nice solution. Please help me finding WorkShop OpenStep for Solaris 🙏🏻 #sun #solaris #openstep #sparc #apple

In 25 years since it had been released I never came across a copy of WorkShop OpenStep for Solaris 😔 I even start to think that this product was just „slideware“?🤔 I would love to build my Retro Recap Database for Sun on Solaris 🙏🏻 Can someone help? #sun #openstep #solaris

Remember if you have one of the elderly #sun #sparc systems and the OBP asks for a pwd. Boot into OBP then remove the idprom (THEN press n) and you can setenv security-mode none .. My SS5 with S24 and #openstep 4.2 SPARC. As beautiful as my #amiga 3000 pizzabox

Short trip to my retro outpost. Yes, we had #openstep on #solaris runtime back then. The dev tools never left the building the reason we never had further apps and #java was the strategy for #sun. So if you are a #macOS user, yes we had something in common for not too long.

Old-fashioned unix apps on #MacOS dump their `.config` files in the user directory; #Cocoa & #OpenStep apps dump their config files into (often) a `.plist` file in `~/Library/Preferences`, also as of late- `.json` is now a valid config file type for MacOS apps.

Remember if you have one of the elderly #sun #sparc systems and the OBP asks for a pwd. Boot into OBP then remove the idprom (THEN press n) and you can setenv security-mode none .. My SS5 with S24 and #openstep 4.2 SPARC. As beautiful as my #amiga 3000 pizzabox
