Donation does affect the location of end of life care and that means it is not right for everyone. Giving information to ensure the right decision is made for that family is key. Involve your specialist teams early. #PIER2023 @pier_network @R_chelCl_re

Ideally discuss with the organ donation team in advance, prior to offering donation to a family to ensure eligibility. A detailed conversation with the coroner will need to occur if PM is required, but this does not mean a complete contraindication to donation #PIER2023

💫 The key to tissue viability is you want to see what the wound bed looks like: When a wound is dry, add moisture to the slough to remove it When a wound is wet, absorb that exudate and view the wound💫 Tissue viability demystified! ✔️ #PIER2023 @pier_network @FranSpratt
Re dressings: think about what you are trying to achieve from them and don’t forget adhesive remover! #PIER2023 @pier_network @FranSpratt
Barrier films can be used under all dressings eg Cavilon, Medi-derma. When the dressing is removed it stops skin stripping and just removed the barrier instead #PIER2023 @pier_network @FranSpratt
Ideally remove the pressure, if you can’t eg with NIV masks, try and dissipate the pressure over a larger area eg with gel strips. Medical devices esp NG tubes, casts are high risk for damage. Heels must be off loaded from pressure when casts are on. #PIER2023 @pier_network
