A small but impactful change I just made to the #PracticalA11y course website is replacing the “Skip to main content” link with two skip links: • Skip to video • Skip to transcript If you navigate using a keyboard, you can more quickly skip to the chapter format u prefer. ⏬
Current status: Taking a short ice cream break after recording for the #PracticalA11y course for over an hour.
👋🏻 I published a chapter from the #PracticalA11y course on my blog: An extensive guide to ARIA live regions—what they are, how to use them & how not to Accessible Notifications with ARIA Live Regions 🔗 Part 1: sarasoueidan.com/blog/accessibl… 🔗Part 2: sarasoueidan.com/blog/accessibl… #a11y

Repeated advice in my course: Always, always perform your own testing. Browser and assistive technology support changes, bugs appear, gaps may be filled, and things may stop working the way they are supposed or expected to. #a11y #PracticalA11y
Happy Friday! 📢 Next week on May 18th is Global Accessibility Awareness Day. In honor of #GAAD, & since many of u have reached out & asked to get early access to the #PracticalA11y course, I’m re-opening course preorders for those of u who would like to get access sooner.
This week I'm starting to work on a new BONUS chapter for the Practical Accessibility course. ✨ This is the first of a few chapters I want to add to the course this year. #a11y #PracticalA11y
I've noticed that many of the recent #PracticalA11y course sales have been from word of mouth—people taking the course and then recommending it to their friends and colleagues, or talking about it on social media. A heartfelt Thank You to everyone who's spreading the word! 💞
I've recently started learning Web Accessibility deeply and the best resource I've found is @SaraSoueidan 's course. Thanks for this awesome course. #PracticalA11y

Fortunately, for #a11y testing, @AssistivLabs enables us to test our work using Windows screen readers (and macOS coming later). AssistivLabs is much more usable and works fine on my connection. (#PracticalA11y course members will get a 6-months free trial of AssistivLabs 🎁)
✅ Purchasing Power Parity is available ✅ and team licenses come with bulk discounts (for 5+ seats) 🏕️ Learn a little more about what to expect, as well as find answers to FAQs on the course website: 🔗 practical-accessibility.today #a11y #PracticalA11y
#PracticalA11y Some of the course’s last videos are longer than the previous ones. So I’m restructuring some of the content & splitting a few of them into smaller ones so they’re easier to follow & digest. So if u’re taking the course & see the number has gone up, that’s why. ✨

Been taking Sara Soueidan’s accessibility course Practical Accessibility #PracticalA11y. Awesome learning experience!
Working through the #PracticalA11y course. Love the course as it is teaching me so much about accessibility. I would recommend this course to any and all of my developer and UX designer friends.
Grateful for @aardrian today. He has been reviewing the #PracticalA11y course's content for the past few weeks. I wasn't feeling great about a couple of chapters. After his review, I'm restructuring one & completely rewriting another one. 😁 [1/3]
Everyone who pre-ordered the #PracticalA11y course a few weeks ago can now login to their accounts to get early access to the course’s content. 🗝️ I’ve been putting my heart into this course. I hope you find it valuable. 🫶🏻
I have just started watching @SaraSoueidan's accessibility course and all I can say is that it is really fantastic. Congratulations and thank you for your work Sara #a11y practical-accessibility.today

@SaraSoueidan Chapter 3 of your #PracticalA11y course is an excellent presentation about the divisions within principles, guidelines, success criteria, and conformance levels. First time i have experienced it this way

I meant the latter… I just have a brief paragraph and no links in chapter 12. I am learning so much on #PracticalA11y and have only scratched the surface!
Good morning @SaraSoueidan. Will you publish the codepen examples of chapter 12 on enhancing a simple site navigation of practical-accessibility.today? #PracticalA11y

"I watched Chapter 1 last night and, if it’s foreshadowing the rest of the course, my expectations have already been exceeded." - @jimniels Thank you for this lovely review. 🫶🏻 #PracticalA11y
📝 I got in on the pre-orders for @SaraSoueidan's "Practical Accessibility" and it has already exceeded my expectations (and i'm only through chapter 1). blog.jim-nielsen.com/2023/practical…
Moving forward, I will be using the #PracticalA11y hashtag for course-related tweets, content and updates. Stay tuned.

One of the responses I got for the #PracticalA11y survey form I sent out yesterday. How blessed am I to be a part of such a kind community?
What do ducks have to do with accessibility, I wonder? 🧐 (I mean, I can't do an entire course— that's hours of me talkin —without a few mentions of birds now, can I?) #PracticalA11y
I just found this note in one of my #PracticalA11y course chapter drafts. "(wow! lots of stuff here! this will be great!)" That's a note I spontaneously wrote at the end of a list of stuff I'd be covering in that chapter. ☺️ My excitement level hasn't gone down since. 🖤
I'm giving Talkback the spotlight in today's video. She gets to speak to the microphone as I demo how different hiding methods affect the accessibility of form controls to touch screen reader users. #PracticalA11y

I’m ready to send out the next #PracticalA11y email update, but I am sitting here perplexed because it looks like even with a new email [email protected], the email will probably land in your spam folders (the test email landed in mine).
