The #RTDBoard Operations, Safety & Security committee just stopped an attempt by staff to circumvent Board review & approval process for a new security contract for Allied Universal. Thanks to Directors Paglieri, Nicholson & committee Chair Ruscha for understanding what was up!

A goal amendment from #RTDBoard for the GM & CEO to start coming with Vision Zero strategies this year passes 11 for 4. This was championed by Director’s @RuschaWrites & Ian Harwick after a lot of work with the community (including GDT) to get RTD to adopt VZ polices.

The #RTDBoard standing committee chairs have been elected - these are the starting points for most of the reforms we want to see. Dir Michael Guzman heads up both the Finance & Planning and Performance committees, while Dir JoyAnn Ruscha takes the Operations, Safety & Security.

GDT's Election Special meeting is this Thursday at 6PM! Join in for an update on all-things #ColoradoTransit along with the chance to meet with several #RTDBoard candidates. Be sure to get out there and VOTE YES on 7A to #KeepTransitMoving! RSVP: greaterdenvertransit.com/monthlymeeting…

Tonight, don't miss our 2025 kickoff #GDTMonthlyMeeting 6pm at our usual spot! Join us for a catch-up on the big changes at RTD and big decisions still to be made in 2025 between the new #RTDBoard, Mgmt Targets, and Board Resolutions. RSVP here: greaterdenvertransit.com/monthlymeeting…

The mostly new members of the #RTDBoard just voted on an amendment to give the GM & CEO a proper hard number target to increase ridership to 69,562,000 which passed 8 votes to 7. Shame on the “old guard” of Directors who just showed how out of touch they are.

The #RTDBoard has waived through the “same old” Allied Universal scope of work with barely a word. Once again they have collectively told you how little they care about the rampant disorder, crime and fare evasion on the RTD system. Employees and public platitudes mean nothing.

So how is “de-Brucing” actually done? TABOR requires voter approval for exemptions. As a special district, RTD can put forward ballot measures on its own and without needing to collect signatures. The #RTDBoard voted unanimously to do the #VoteYesOn7A ballot measure in Jun 24.

A little point about transit advertizing that the current @RideRTD contract with Lamar fails to grasp… The #RTDBoard will hopefully vote to stop this today! #ByeByeLamar

We need more reps on the #RTDBoard who REGULARLY #RideTransit, including buses, and are serious about restoring ridership growth to the system. We DONT need a #DumpingZone of random county/state appointees who are being filed away to do the bidding of the governor/county leads.

The #RTDBoard has voted to BAN ad wraps from transit vehicle windows! This is a MASSIVE victory for riders - thank you so much to Director Paglieri for leading this initiative and for the Directors who supported it!

Transit is a key part of a #DowntownRenaissance as well. @RideRTD light rail vehicles are chronically filthy today & need to actually get cleaned w/ onboard drug activities addressed responsibly. Look forward to working with the #RTDBoard and the city to make that happen.

Urge the #RTDBoard to vote NO on Paratransit Cuts! Reject outright this shameful targeted fare increase, with #RTDMgmt singling out riders w/ disabilities for cuts while NOT giving the Board the info it needs to fix the broken Access-a-Ride service. docs.google.com/forms/d/1LZ8wI…

In a big piece of business for the night, the #RTDBoard approves a resolution to run a ballot measure on Nov 5th to ask voters to approve a continuing exemption from the TABOR cap for RTD. Remember, this is not a tax increase, more a continuation of the past 25 years.

I support reforming the #RTDAct with accountability and pro-rider provisions which COULD include changes to the #RTDBoard. However, basic research of peer systems shows that swapping an #ElectedBoard for an #AppointedBoard IS NOT a formula for stronger transit accountability.
