A little tour of Marina Bay at lunch time before delving back into the #recsys2023 afternoon sessions. The mythical Merlion but also an interesting encounter.
Listening to @yashonwu presenting our work at #recsys2023 - the paper is entitled “Goal-Oriented Multi-Modal Interactive Recommendation with Verbal and Non-Verbal Relevance Feedback”; Now in Session 7: Interactive Recommendation 1
In the paper, we answer open questions from our work at #RecSys2023 (dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/36…), such as: "Which #topological dataset characteristics are GNNs-based recommender systems able to capture? Are those properties influencing the recommendation performance?" (2/3) ⤵️
We originally presented the paper at the #RecSys2023, where it received the "Best Paper" award. However, we believe that our approach is useful beyond recommendation systems. For example, we have already successfully applied some of the methodology in the IR domain.
In sequential RecSys (i.e. sequence completion) @asash and I showed in #RecSys2023 that not using negative sampling (& loss fn) was more important than encoder vs. decoder: arxiv.org/pdf/2308.07192… Of course, negative sample is useful but has its own problems, but our gBCE helps
I wrote a detailed overview of #recsys2023, including state of the research, our contributions, top5 paper picks (& short summary of 11 other papers), workshops and the conference in general. Available on my new blog: hidasi.eu/blog/2023/recs…
The #recsys2023 conference had the lowest number of industry sponsors since 2015 (10 sponsors), compared to around 20 sponsors in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. Has anyone any thoughts as to why that is? recommender-systems.com/news/2023/11/1… #recsys #recsys23

I tried to answer the questions I received on slido after my #recsys2023 talk, but 160 characters is just not enough. So I put up the Q&A section to the project's website (w/o names ofc). Enjoy! hidasib.github.io/gru4rec_third_…
To ensure customers have up-to-the-minute information, Amazon researchers use time series data to identify trending products. Their @ACMRecSys paper also introduces a two-step training process to enable the model to leverage product features, improving accuracy. #RecSys2023
