Interesting that you call it a subscription model: in my jurisdiction of practice (Pakistan) it’s called a retainer, but it’s a flat fee every month for a potentially unlimited number of hours. You take a punt on the number of potential hours and charge accordingly.
That's the reason why it's a very hard business model. Home owners paid a monthly retainer to avoid the hassle when things go wrong. Finding someone to fix a house problem is only half of the easier issue.
Same mindset here. I don’t charge $5k retainers and I offer to refund their current month if they’re not happy with what I deliver. Clients have never asked me for a refund!
