I fixed it, by doing full uninstall with RevoUninstaller. Got rid of all the cache and various other left over files. But it's still mildly infuriating if I'm honest.
I love that I went to update discord, and it's just *broken*. Yay.
Sometimes things break when we change things without thinking too deeply about inbuilt consequences. You could probably remap it on your own system if you desperately wanted to try it. Who says some of us don't still have a floppy drive (on a machine not running this browser)?
🚀 Day 3 of #100DaysOfCode • Revised previously solved Recursion & Backtracking problems (no new problems today)
I'll speak about the <2year old codebase first. In less than 2years the architectural decisions and code structure made it impractical and highly inconvenient to add new code. Simple loops to data structure types were so inefficient that they'd take forever as it evolved.
The fundamental problem is that you're trying to recreate an event without knowing all of the variables from the event.
My team and I were trying to confirm the null hypothesis, which is that CK was shot with a .30-06 from the stated position on the roof of the Losee building. To confirm this hypothesis, we should have been able to get a .30-06 round top stop in a simulated human neck. Even when…
That sounds very familiar. Somewhat "bad coding" usually leads to those issues such when you try to fix 1 thing, and then 10 new problems appear. 🤣 definately frustrating lol
- Code works - Adds a new feature - Code no longer works - Undo the new feature and revert back to the old code - Old code too no longer works
It's not every day that I write a Windows 3.1 16-bit application, but yesterday was one of those days 😂. Let's talk about it, and discuss the NABU a bit, in a 🧵here.
Always struggled with this definition as the terms "vintage" and "retro" seem to be synonymous with "old computers". My definition is that "vintage" is "old and of the time period" and "retro" is "a modern replication of old". Do you agree? Please elaborate and share.
first worry about making the code work and then about rerfactoring it we need to write bad code to be able to write good code, there is no way around it
Me: (working on #Aquarifont2) Also Me: Ffs, I guess I gotta figure out a # and @ for this bastard. Also Me: Shit, there's a overlap problem with the QU. #RetroProgrammingProblems #MattelAquarius #AnalogProgramming @TBQuarterly @bkolcow @loudscotsbloke @Y2Kquarterly @merman1974
github.com/StonedEdge/Ret… Dock coming along...! However images getting shifted one pixel to the right... feel free to help a noob debug! (Issue in comments)
You come across this while fixing a legacy web app. This is the source of the bug. What do you do? reddit.com/r/programmerhu…
Backtracking is a common question you'll find in coding interviews And certain types of algorithms help you solve these Qs (using recursion & building incrementally on previous states). Here's a backtracking problems crash course to help you practice. freecodecamp.org/news/coding-in…
The general problem is unsolvable for any Turing complete language. To overcome that, we need to provide the programmer with constructs to conservatively limit the set of possibilities to be analyzed, while ensuring rejection of programs with possible errors.
All this to say, 6 years ago, when starting to do RE it took me a week to determine a function was printf. Today, it takes me maybe 30 sec, even if I've never seen the architecture before. How do you get better at reversing? Just do it. And anyone can do that if they want to. 7/7
“Reddit is literally rewriting all of its code, some of which is more than a decade old.” In software, decade-old means fairly well debugged
