#SB319 will actually make it easier for criminals to get guns. Over 5,200 people were denied a weapons carry license in 2020, mostly due to past criminal behavior. Why are the GOP claiming the elimination of this important gun safety measure will make GA safer. It will not.

Still perplexed why every single Senate Republican in 2022 voted against my universal background check amendment to #SB319, which simply brought the bill in line with their stated rationale for its passage.
The assumption of Republicans in favor of permitless carry is that people "already need to submit to a background check when purchasing a gun." So it was strange that the GOP would vote down an amendment making background checks universal for all gun sales. My remarks today:
