A lot of folks stopping by last week for some @LampreyControl fishes. Including @MUCC1937 who also got the scoop on fish larvae in #SCDRS
New paper on #NorthernMadtom use of artificial reefs in the #SCDRS! NOM occupied reef sites, but at similar levels as nearby control sites. NOM catch rates in #MinnowTraps were highest when baited with worms (vs. cheese, dog food, and no bait). bit.ly/3ygL2uO

Started today with a gr8 email about the Roseman lab group receiving 2020 St. Clair River Restoration Partner Award for #SCDRS work, specifically on LakeSturgeon, in lab & field. The huge spatial & temporal scale covered by this group cannot be overstated. youtube.com/watch?v=Jb0a4E…
A lot of big #LakeSturgeon have been caught in the St. Clair-Detroit River System this year in agency surveys and by recreational anglers! This 80 inch #sturgeon was caught by a 9 year old! thetimesherald.com/story/sports/2… #SCDRS #StClairRiver #GreatLakes #Fishing

Carsonville boy, 9, catches 80-inch lake sturgeon in the St. Clair River
Nine-year-old Roger Sampier III of Carsonville, caught an 80-inch lake sturgeon in the St. Clair River on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
Spring sampling now begins for the Roseman lab in the #SCDRS. Walleye, Suckers, and Lake Sturgeon on the way!
Probably getting the spawn very soon in #SCDRS. Sturgeon eggs will be on the way to the lab!

Irony is they’ve seen more in some IP tows at night than actual zoop tows. St. Clair-Detroit River System (#scdrs) always seems to consistently get good pulses of them.
Aside from the adult/juvenile tagging work, several other agencies, universities, and groups work to monitor #LakeSturgeon in the #SCDRS as well, including larval fish work by @USGS, spawning reef restoration, acoustic telemetry, and genetics work to name a few. #GreatLakesSci
#scDRS is finally online at @NatureGenet! Please try it if you want to combine #GWAS and #scRNAseq to find disease associations of #IndividualCells. Co-led by @kangchenghou and supervised by @bpasaniuc and Alkes Price. nature.com/articles/s4158… github.com/martinjzhang/s…
Excited to share our new #method, scDRS, for associating **individual cells** to disease by integrating #scRNA-seq + #GWAS, providing #polygenic disease risk enrichment beyond tissues or cell types. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

One of the many things we missed out this spring field season, watching the egg development of walleyes, suckers, trout-perch, and lake sturgeon from #SCDRS

Similar to research here, light traps have been used in @USGS restoration work of StClair Detroit River System #scdrs targeting nearshore larval fish
Eggs collected on artificial reefs in these restored areas are brought to our lab, reared, and identified to quantify species use in #SCDRS.
