Fascinating research by Justin Preddie! Black gay men (BGM) are seen as less similar to “Men” than white gay men and are uniquely stereotyped as loud, nice, dramatic, & outgoing. Justin’s future work will consider what this means for BGM’s code-switching. 💯 #SPSP2020 #sexatSPSP
What an inspiring and amazing group of people! So happy to have been a part of #SEASAPP at #SPSP2020! Thanks to everyone who joined us. The future is bright!
Here @michael_barlev (with me, Steve Neuberg) is integrating Health Psych, Social Psych, + Evo Psych to build model for understanding the link between women’s body fat + mental health outcomes—one that integrates the important variable of body fat location! #SPSP2020

#SexAtSPSP continues at #SPSP2020. Alexandra Garr-Schultz shows that bisexual folks face higher levels of identity denial (vs gay and lesbian folks) from both hetero and gay or lesbian sources. Linked to +depression, +identity conflict, and -identity clarity.

These amazing people stuck it out to the bitter end of #SPSP2020 to provide some insight into #altac. Props to the attendees who also stuck it out! @RyneSherman
Come see Martino Ongis, Patricia Andrews, and @MartyVDay talk about zero-sum thinking, relative deprivation, and inequality today at 11:00 am. And, since one of the speakers was unable to attend, I will be filling in for them by presenting my own work. #SPSP2020 @SPSPnews

Excited to see Anna Marston (@AnnaMarston14), '22, a #leadershipstudies and #psychology double major, present her research at #SPSP2020 this Feb.! #SpiderPride 🕷️❤️💙
I am honored to be presenting “Double-Edged Sword Effects for Growth Mindsets of Weight but not for Growth Mindsets of Mental Illness” at #SPSP2022 in #SanFrancisco this February! I am incredibly grateful for support from @JepsonSchool to present this work at @SPSPnews.
Maybe she did see something in me, or maybe it was a stroke of luck that she had decided to take me in her lab. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have met Tara, worked with her, and went on to present at #SPSP2020 - I would've still lost my way. 2/3
And if any of you had seen me in my poster presentation at #SPSP2020, this year she touched on it on a wider, more big picture context - she really was the real brains behind the research (the pressure to live up to that back then, holy moly!) 🙃🙃🙃😂😂
Although I can’t be at #SPSP2020 this year (see pinned tweet), my honours student @jo_hernanto is presenting our shared research! Poster: F-128 Title: “That’s what she said”: Can amplifying women’s ideas impact allocation of intellectual credit?
That reminds me that the last in-person conference I attended was #SPSP2020
@SPSPnews is rounding out my pandemic year. #SPSP2020: worried about recent news of a new virus spreading; brought wipes & wondered when it would hit us ...about a year of groundhog days, then... #SPSP2021: excited about the vaccine and wondering when it will get to me
Starting #SPSP2021 with a tiny crown. Practically identical to #spsp2020's Mardi Gras crown...Right?
With all the reminiscing about the fab times we had at #SPSP2020, I decided to give a nod to these beforetimes with some local New Orleans themed brews.
I can’t believe #SPSP2021 is around the corner. The last “normal” thing I did pre-covid was attend SPSP in New Orleans. I can’t help but wonder if I drank one too many hurricanes and have been in an everlasting drunken stupor since. Certainly would explain a lot in the last year.
PS, it's hard to believe it's already TIME for our conference considering #SPSP2020 and #NOLA was the last thing I did before quarantine! 😅 What a year... I'm excited for some good science and #EarlyCareer professional development!
And that's a wrap. Huge thanks to @siegel_susanna, Joshua May (on Twitter?), Jill Shelton, Emily Elliot, @humeorous, and the may others who made #SPSP2020 possible!
The final day of #SPSP2020 has begun! I'll be sharing about the sessions that I can attend. Follow along if you're interested. Program here (and in Dr. Siegel's tweet below): docs.google.com/document/d/18v…
I’ll be talking about how individual differences in philosophers’ reasoning, education, and open-mindedness predict differences in their philosophical views Thursday afternoon. And the other talks in my session sound great! Pumped!
My dad yesterday asked if when I traveled to NOLA for #SPSP2020 if it was “for school.” ... I just replied yes.
I know this was very difficult but the science in practice community appreciates all of your efforts: we'll find a way forward! #SPSP2020
Today the steering committee of @SocPhilSciPract had to announce that #SPSP2020 (initially postponed to 2021) is cancelled. It was a horrible decision to take, especially given the efforts already put in by delegates, reviewers and especially local organisers at MSU, but.. 1/2

*sigh* #SPSP2021 submission season is upon us. Couldn't make it to #SPSP2020 this past year, for a variety of reasons..... But if I knew it was going to be the last conference I'd be attending in.... who knows how long..... I probably would've gone.... *sniffle sniffle*

Aw I thought about this often: when was my last “normal”. @kaitlynmwerner visit has to be it. This was taken at my favorite cake shop in Durham. This was 1wk b4 #SPSP2020 in US; by time I was at the conference I had heard news from family back home so already taken precautions
Inspired by this BBC piece, I would like to see the last normal pic on your phone bbc.com/news/uk-526226…
Also would like to shoutout #SPSP2020 for their amazing breakout session on imposter syndrome and my own department for fostering conversations on the topic. Hearing that tenured faculty struggle(d) with the same things is surprisingly reassuring
"Adoption of the fist bump as a greeting could substantially reduce the transmission of infectious disease between individuals." I will be doing more fist bumps until the #coronavirus passes. Please RT if you want to make this a social norm. #SPSP2020 apic.org/Resource_/Tiny…

Loved this cool work on the differences in how people perceive their enjoyment of orgasm-less sex and the importance of their own and their partners' orgasm, depending on their relationship seeking orientation. 🤯 #SPSP2020 #SexatSPSP
Many congratulations to my wonderful colleague @CambPsych @Sander_vdLinden for winning the Sage Young Scholar @SPSPnews @#SPSP2020
Is the political ideology of psychology research related to its replicability, robustness, scientific impact, or coverage in the media? @diegoareinero will explain why there is *no relationship* in our meta-analysis of 194 studies at #SPSP2020
