Redundancy involves using multiple indpndt components or pathways to perform the same #SafetyFunction, ensuring that the system remains operational even if one component fails. Monitoring continuously checks the functionality of components in the #SafetyCircuit to detect faults.


Answer (1/6): Just like a safety switch is monitored by a safety controller, so should the #MotorControl relay (MCR) when they are incorporated into the #SafetyCircuit. When the safety controller has checked its inputs and is able to reset, it will energize the MCR(s).


(Answer 6/6): Since the MCR’s are an extension of the #SafetyCircuit, they need to be monitored so that failures are detected, and the reset of the safety controller is prevented until the fault is cleared.
