Long duration X1.4 flare in progress from AR3697 (old AR36464)! A significant CME is likely in progress, but it is still on the east limb so it likely won't lead to a major geomagnetic storm. Should be in a more optimal position in the next 3-4 days. #spaceweather #solarmax

#Solarmax doldrums continue with the sunspot number remaining (relatively) low. The Earth-facing part of the Sun is peppered with small sunspots and groups. There are numerous active regions on the far side of the Sun, so it should become more exciting in the coming days & weeks.
