@eastgate from @EastgateSys is presenting "Back to the Information City." They found that the Information City provides a new perspective on hypertext visualization. 🔗10.1145/3720553.3746664 #DesignTheory #VR #SpatialHypertext #Visualuzation
Another outbreak of retro #spatialHypertext: this is a real case of spatial #hypertext created by one of my #research assistants to #structure #information and develop #ideas. It’s still an open issue how our #intelligent #parsers could compute associations of paper notes. :-)
It would be nice to see a combination of #spatialHypertext (e.g. @eastgate’s #Tinderbox) and #notetaking apps (e.g. @NotabilityApp or @GoodNotesApp): DRAW & MANAGE your ideas. Plus, imagine #intelligent #parsers (like the ones we have) that recognize the implied associations.
I don’t see why #visual #workspace apps (eg. @WhimsicalPowers) would not classify as #spatialHypertext, even though most people would not use this term. Years ago, I have even (“mis-”)used a chart app (@OmniGraffle) to build up emerging visual structures:
Another #spatialHypertext type #visual #remote #collaboration provider: mural.co @MURAL ”Intelligent“ UIs using spatial parsers would largely improve such tools. We are exploring this at @iisys_de. #research #hypertext
Used in #spatialHypertext. #acmht19
"Visualization of the Relevance: Using Physics Simulations for Encoding Context" is being presented by @dnlrssnr at Paper Session Games! #acmht19 Check out his work: doi.org/10.1145/334222…
I carry the idea of #spatialHypertext for visually impaired people already for quite some time, however, unfortunately, never started a #research project. This was partly due to missing contacts to blind people or a lack of resources. Maybe I should start this next…
What is the overall #research question (in the field of #SpatialHypertext) you try to answer in your #PhD?
I was referring to a paradigm rather than a technology. For further information see #research on #spatialHypertext and related #hypertext infrastructures, e.g. researchgate.net/publication/31…
Interesting! You may consider @ScratchGraph a #spatialHypertext app, though this term is not used widely. We’ll have more discussions on such systems and paradigms at next year’s #acmht19 conference (@ACMHT). Take a look & spread the word if you like it… human.iisys.de/ht2019
It’s a #RecSys + a space to build up knowledge (#spatialHypertext). While structuring nodes, the system presents you with suggested, relevant information. The exciting part: The system interprets the space, computing associations. Watch a demo: youtu.be/GX53yezHDXE
The vast majority of those #visual #workspace or #spatialHypertext apps are lacking intelligent components that can interpret visually organized information. … something like we describe in our paper “Spatio-Temporal Parsing in Spatial Hypermedia”: doi.org/10.1145/291458…
Amen. I can tighten a screw with a chisel though a screwdriver would be better. #spatialHypertext tools include too few screwdrivers and too many chisels. P.S. I’m not absolutist about what we use: what we have/suits. But, SH tools delivering insight vs. diagrams are few.
Links could be even outside a document. (This would be beneficial in many ways, however, the #WWW as we use it today does not support this.) You could even think of #hypertext documents that do not use any links, but represent associations implicitly (cf. #spatialHypertext).
Sure, it always depends on the purpose of the tool. The most innovative and distinguishing feature, though, would the the #spatialParser used by #spatialHypertext rather than chart apps. This said, #Tinderbox, e.g., has some other, specific features for #notetaking, too.
Nice article. In particular I’d like to point to Cathy’s (@ccmarshall) work on #SpatialHypertext (#Aquanet, #VIKI, #VKB). This is interesting, because it breaks the idea of explicit #linking, as we all know it from the #Web. @hist_HT #hypertext #structureDomain

This image looks like the structures we can do with our #spatialHypertext applications, however, our system would provide further recommendations automatically without forcing the user to search for it. #augmentintellect #Hypertext #RecSys @sukap @dnlrssnr
