Is there a Twitter (yes, still Twitter in my mousey heart) day for #Spolia? I have a lovely #SpoliaAlert here at #FishertonDeLaMere church: remnants of C12 chevron decoration
#SpoliaAlert at #TeffontMagnaChurch. Fragments of Saxon carving showing ornate tracery. Not strictly spolia but the Mouse is claiming it for #SpoliaSunday #StoneworkSunday #SundayStonework
And finally from Mouse on this fine Sunday a curiously located piece of #Spolia to complement your #SpoliaSunday. #SpoliaAlert! from the east end of #StMaryStapleford, a totally random aumbry (pointed trefoil no less). What on God's green earth? #StoneworkSunday #SundayStonework
#SpoliaAlert? TTM 🐭 #PostboxSaturday
Hexham Abbey's #SaxonSunday crypt is part of Wilfrid's original church of c. 674, conceived as a shrine to contain relics he brought from Rome and elsewhere. Church may have been entirely built from #Roman #SundayStonework from nearby Corbridge, much in evidence in the crypt.
#SpoliaAlert! TTM🐭
Remains of an Anglo-Saxon cross incorporated into the external wall of St. Gregory’s Minster at Kirkdale in North Yorkshire. #SaxonSunday #SundayStonework 📷 My own.
It's a Sunday #SpoliaAlert! TTM🐭
#SundayStonework with the surviving Saxon carvings embedded in Breedon on the hill, carvings dating back as far as c8/c9 #SaxonSunday
#SpoliaAlert. This is begging for a caption. Just begging TTM🐭
St Andrew's church, Boynton (East Riding of Yorkshire). West tower C15, remainder 1768-70, probably by John Carr for Sir George Strickland. Inset SW buttress of the tower is a standing cross in miniature. I've never seen anything like it. Thoughts?
Not just a follow up from an earlier #SpoliaAlert but on #SpoliaSunday too! TTM🐭
I'm getting a kind of spooky #Spolia feeling! I'm wondering if it's the remains of a boss #SpoliaAlert TTM🐭
Totally fab-u-lous #FrankenDoor TTM🐭 #SpoliaAlert #Spolia
#SpoliaAlert! This is brilliant! Not just a #FrankenDoor (which I love) but an entire #FrankenChurch. It's #Spolia heaven. For a start just look at the heads of the cusped two-light windows! How many bits can you see? TTM🐭🐭
Now I'm not a betting mouse but if I was I'd put a significant amount of cheese on the fact that the right attached column is a crude copy of the left. It you look closely at the doves in particular the right dove is less detailed. Anyone want a small wager? TTM🐭 #SpoliaAlert
#AdoorableThursday at St Mary's, Aldermaston. C12th re-set west doorway, with spiral and zigzag decoration on the colonettes, carved doves on capitals, and round arch with cable moulding. Close-ups of doves follow.
Here comes a #SpoliaAlert. Actually this looks like reused worked stone rather than a rebuild interrupting the pattern. There is #Spolia all over the tower by the looks of it TTM🐭
You're in for a treat! Might want to close your eyes to #TheTwitterMouse for this week though. This might be a bit of a historical spoiler as I'm going to test the accepted history of the place a little. (Not even my usual #SpoliaAlert) TTM🐭

A #SpoliaAlert all of my own. Found buried in one of the walls (probably because it was thought to be pagan) during the C19 'Victorianisation'. Perhaps an indication of a much, much older church on the site. St. Peter's #Codford #Wiltshire
Now here's a thing. Do I spy with my mousey eye a little #Spolia above the post box? Let's zoom in a little (hope you don't mind me using your image for a zoom @Photography_PJS) #SpoliaAlert TTM🐭

It's a #SpoliaAlert. There is a fantastic piece of #Dogtooth spolia as the door threshold (zoomed in as far as the resolution of the image will take) but it's not a continuous run of teeth it almost looks like an apprentice piece. Never seen that before TTM🐭 #AdoorableThursday
The original south door of St Mary's, Ancroft, Northumberland, with the evidence of its Norman origins. #AdoorableThursday
