Thank you, @YorkshireMuseum! We present the beautiful starry sky of Japan about 240 years ago. #StarObject ⭐️ We are looking forward to the next #CURATORBATTLE from the Far East!!
🌟Our entry for today's #CURATORBATTLE #StarObject is ‘The Kimbolton Coin Hoard’! 🌟 67 Celtic coins, which are roughly 2,000yrs old (50BC–40AD) Made of an alloy of gold, silver & copper, the images on the coins represent stylised horses – an important animal to the Celts. 🐎
It’s hard to pick one #StarObject for the final #CURATORBATTLE, but we’ll have to go with our Grand Orrery by George Adams Snr., made c. 1750. It's sat in the middle of our Main Gallery since it opened in the late 1950s, and is the inspiration for our logo.
Ladies and gentlemen, let us present to you the one and only JAR OF MOLES. So iconic it does its own interviews and gets its own fan mail. bit.ly/3jufo5E #CURATORBATTLE #StarObject
Despite being 3000 years old, if the East Cambs gold torc could speak, I feel like it would sing Iggy Azelea’s seminal world “I’m so fancy” It’s one of the largest torcs ever found & made of 730g of pure gold! It’s definitely our #StarObject at @ElyMuseum 🌟 #CURATORBATTLE
For today’s grand finale #CURATORBATTLE theme of #StarObject, there's no denying the wondrously raunchy #Swing by #JeanHonoréFragonard. The painting shows a woman, a frothy vision of pink silk, poised mid-air beyond the reach of both her elderly husband and her reclining lover.
For the #CURATORBATTLE Grand Finale, our #StarObject🌟 is our Ice Age rock art, specifically this ibis in Church Hole. It's special: over 12,000 years old, birds are rare in Upper Palaeolithic art, and it's in rare bas relief, not an engraving or a painting... [📷: Paul Bahn]
We offer up one of the National Motor Museum's most iconic Land Speed Record-breaking cars, the stunning 1929 Golden Arrow. It reached a land speed record of 231.446mph. Looking forward to doing battle again! 💥 #CURATORBATTLE #StarObject
The orrery models the motions of planets and moons in our solar system. Gearing inside the instrument revolves these bodies at exact relative speeds when a handle is turned, demonstrating planetary motion according to the laws of Newtonian gravitation. #StarObject #CURATORBATTLE
Me! I'm the #StarObject! (Or there's this more literal architectural piece from the museum's collection.) #CURATORBATTLE @YorkshireMuseum
Back in March we submitted beautiful keys that didn't open anything for the first #CURATORBATTLE. 18 weeks later we have chosen our beautiful Hall as our #starobject because *pun alert*...it unlocks everything. What do you mean it's not an 'object'?😉
We didn’t even have to think about this one! Our #StarObject is the world’s oldest football. It was kicked into the rafters of Stirling Castle in the 1540s when footballs in Scotland were known as ‘fut ballis’. It remained there until its discovery in 1981. ⚽️🏰 #CURATORBATTLE
Discovered by the Keating family in 2012, exceptionally well-preserved, this 290-305 million-year-old sail-back “Superstar” from the Carboniferous Period has the potential to unearth a whole new level of understanding about Nova Scotia’s ancient world. #CURATORBATTLE #StarObject
Okay so this isn't an object but definitely our star attraction! Kirkgate is one of the oldest recreated indoor streets of its kind in the world, and the first to be opened in Britain! Every single shop on the street is based on a real Victorian York business. #StarObject
You give us a helmet, and we raise you the old operating theatre itself for #CURATORBATTLE! Our space is our #StarObject! Created in 1822 for the women in need of surgery of Old St Thomas' Hospital, this space predates the advent of #anaesthesia and #antiseptics! #histmed #ouch

Say hello to our #StarObject, the head of the goddess Sulis Minerva 🌟 Originally part of a statue that stood in the Temple, the head was discovered in 1727 and has been admired by generations of staff and visitors here at the Roman Baths! Truly iconic #CURATORBATTLE
Our Viking sock has to be our #StarObject! It might be humble knitwear, but it lasted a remarkable 1000 years and it's so evocative of real lives. That's what we love to do - tell the stories of the ordinary yet fascinating Vikings who trod our streets in the 10th century.

So we are a bit late to the #StarObject party but it's been a secret up until now. We see your helmet and raise you Britain's first Anglo-Scandinavian (Viking) helmet! Yeah it's not a looker like yours, but it was actually used by a real Viking warrior! #nohorns #CURATORBATTLE
#CURATORBATTLE #StarObject #Irishcustom Carved turnips were popular for turning into scary lanterns for walking with or placing in windowsills during #Halloween #Samhain BEAT THAT! #Irishtradition #Ireland
#GrandFinale #CURATORBATTLE Our Ōtautau Museum #StarObject is this Chondrometer marked "Bryan Corcoran Ltd", c1870's. It is extremely unusual for having a pendulum scale & not being shown in any catalogue or advertising from the company. We've not seen another one like it. CC BY

Our usually quiet pump organ instantly became the #StarObject when this German organist visited @revmuseum Although we don't encourage handling of artifacts, hearing this fellow play was much appreciated! Watch it here youtu.be/kTqdyCoYD9E @YorkshireMuseum #CURATORBATTLE

These objects are nice, but our #starobject can withstand “out of this world” conditions! Neil Armstrong’s A7-L Apollo 11 suit can resist extreme temperatures, the vacuum of space, and even micrometeorites. #CuratorBattle
