Strings: iterate by Unicode codepoints Byte strings: iterate by bytes Strings made by people who think codepoints that don't fit in 2 bytes practically don't exist: pad every 1 byte codepoint to 2 bytes and then iterate by 2 bytes, "but it works for latin!"
For everyone who's used unicode and realized a character is now a string I'm here for you.

#oss_news 🚀 Massive performance boost coming to Node.js TextEncoder. A huge PR by @yagiznizipli, @lemire and Erik Corry was just merged into Node.js core, bringing significant optimizations to TextEncoder.encodeInto. If you work with high-performance I/O, database drivers, or…

Working with Strings in JavaScript A String is text wrapped in quotes. It can hold words, sentences, or any characters. You can use single or double quotes—both work. Strings are used for names, messages, labels, and more. #LearnInPublic #js
note also that `BigInt(str)`/`Number(str)` * trim whitespace * support binary/octal/hexadecimal integer literals * reject `_` separators * map the empty string to zero ...each of which might be right or wrong for a particular use case, disrupting any attempt to be "simple"
