Baby swifts now growing fast and getting active. Perhaps they know it's #SwiftAwarenessWeek 😀. These amazing creatures need all the help we give them. @swiftsweek
My nest boxes on Ramsgate seafront are a beacon of hope for Swifts, helping ensure future generations continue to enjoy their breathtaking displays for years to come. International Swift Awareness Week is a reminder of the importance of these birds #swiftawarenessweek
Grounded adult swift found in #Rochdale nr mill & River Roch. A little underweight but calm & eating well, hoping for a safe release soonish as may have chicks to care for. Keen to know if they nest on the Mill here..Meadowcroft Hill - workers didn't think so. #SwiftAwarenessWeek
Coming up on tonight’s @Channel4News between now and 8: THE FIGHT TO SAVE OUR SWIFTS. Featuring ace kids, a dream major developer, me, swift bricks and the feathered legends themselves! #TheFeatherSpeech #SwiftAwarenessWeek
Hot weather alert: #SwiftAwarenessWeek - if you see a swift (of any age) on the ground, it needs help as it won’t be able to take off from the ground even if it looks like it’s developed enough to fly. They need expert help so if you find one, tell me so I can connect you to help
Swifts are uniquely adapted for life on the wing... Tiny legs mean they're clumsy on the ground but once airborne their long, curved wings & forked tails make them seriously impressive fliers. And they are FAST - capable of speeds up to 69 mph! #SwiftAwarenessWeek
we Installed these nest boxes off the back of a "go fund me" and they have been a massive success. #swiftawarenessweek
Swifts live a life on the wing. From fledging at around 6 weeks old to the first time they breed at 3-4 years, they are unlikely to have touched the ground. They'll fly around 7000 miles each year and can reach speeds of 70mph. #SwiftAwarenessWeek
The first event for #SwiftAwarenessWeek organised by Walmer and Deal Action for Swifts, went down very well. A steady flow of visitors throughout the day, some already doing their bit for Swifts while others wanting advice and help where to begin. #DealSwifts
Part 1 of 2 -A Swift Story - created for anyone trying to help #swifts by the wonderful @petebarber & @TheWhyAgency 🤗❤️#SwiftAwarenessWeek full video: youtube.com/watch?v=ijln6p…

Cute Swift fact: Swifts' Latin name 'Apus apus' comes from the Greek 'a pous' which means 'without foot'. Their legs are so short it was believed they didn’t have any feet! 😭 💚 #SwiftAwarenessWeek
Swiftlets grow fast! Here's how they've been coming along in our nestbox this year. 💕 Won't be long till they make their own way in the world. Massive thanks to @bandbswifts for their support with this project. #SwiftAwarenessWeek
Did you know? Swifts eat, sleep, drink, mate, & even bathe on the wing...rarely landing except to nest. They can switch off one half of their brain to rest, drink by gliding low over water to take sips, & fly through rain to bathe! 🌧️ #SwiftAwarenessWeek 📽️ @theHALLofEINAR
Every May we watch the skies for swifts as they complete their long migration from Africa to our meadows in #BrentRiverPark Each year we let out our breath when their screaming cries announce their return, the sign of a healthy ecosystem in our green spaces #SwiftAwarenessWeek
Finally good views of Steve and Bear tonight, they’ve spent the majority of the day encased in the wings of either George or Mabel . I can’t believe how forever engrossed and committed they are to their swiftlets . #SwiftAwarenessWeek #swift @ThePhotoHour @Natures_Voice
I missed #SwiftAwarenessWeek, but after a week away, a pleasure to come home last night & watch 2 pairs of #Swifts returning at dusk to my #Swift boxes. Such a privilege to be playing landlady to these amazing birds! 😍🙏 @WriterHannahBT @Natures_Voice @bandbswifts

Swifts are amazing. These aerial legends spend almost their whole lives flying. But their numbers are threatened - down 60% in 30 years. Help us help them and log sightings on Swift Mapper 👇 rspb.org.uk/.../swift-cons… #SwiftAwarenessWeek
@Natures_Voice hi, have been enjoying #SwiftAwarenessWeek Yesterday evening we tried to go on the East Dulwich Swift walk on the RSPB website. Other people were waiting too, but no one came. Now it’s gone from the list on the website. Such a shame no one came to lead the walk.
As #SwiftAwarenessWeek wraps up, here are 4 ways you can help protect these special birds: Install Swift boxes or bricks. Grow wildflowers to boost insect populations. Log your sightings on Swift Mapper. Speak up for Swifts & share their plight. Every effort counts. 💙

If you haven't already everyone, put some Swift boxes up! I've had such an amazing day watching swifts choose to move into the boxes I've put up. Two have gone in, I can hear their excited calls coming from inside, and 5 others are circling my roof. #SwiftAwarenessWeek
Our contemporary building habits are proving a disaster for swifts. But campaigner @WriterHannahBT has the answer - 'swift bricks'. She speaks to @dezeen about her campaign to install swift bricks in all new UK homes: dezeen.com/2025/06/26/swi… #SwiftAwarenessWeek #Swifts #nature
