Absolutely, these trauma responses meet many needs that aren’t currently understood. When people begin to understand trauma motivated behavior these “habits” will make more sense. Everything makes sense from a trauma perspective #traumaresponsesyndromemodel
Something trauma survivors understand, & trauma informed providers need to understand, is that suicidal ideation & self-harm habits are often, paradoxically, survival strategies.

First, we must recognize that often our self hate is a coping mechanism that allows us to maintain our current roles in our lives. We need it to survive in many complex ways. Until this is resolved self love will feel unsafe We need to begin here #traumaresponsesyndromemodel
It's hard to feel loved if you don't feel listened to. It's hard to develop self-love if you don't intentionally, consistently make time to check in w/ & listen to yourself. Self-love & self-respect are built behaviorally-- just lke love & respect in any relationship.

I can show how every “symptom” of the “disorders” are caused by trauma and these diagnoses can be eliminated in people impacted by trauma. People have difficulty embracing a new paradigm when they’ve been forced to fed a narrative for decades #TraumaResponseSyndromeModel
I don’t think people are aware of how many women who are sexual trauma victims become diagnosed bipolar disorder and/or borderline personality disorder. We are still in the dark ages.
