#YAMonday “Shall we dance?” “I’m not much of a dancer,” Aaryana said, turning towards the voice. Wyett was towering over her. Or rather, the wings of his costume were. He’d asked her to dance? He didn’t appear happy about it, but he wasn’t angry or looking for a fight.

#YAMonday The King’s children were beautiful. Wyett was the most handsome, the one all the girls likely wanted to flirt with. Sethson was obviously the sweet one, the one the girls ran to when Wyett broke their hearts. Quin would grow into a stunning woman, Aaryana could see it.

#YAMonday Aaryana entered the ballroom and everyone turned to stare. She knew what they saw: A tall woman in a shimmering green-blue gown and a fancy gold Crown embedded with blue and green gemstones. They couldn’t see her ‘tail’ yet, trailing after her like a loyal pet.

#YAMonday “Mother gave me her locket. But I couldn’t write my secret and hide it inside. So, you like it?” “Very much. I’d like it more if you hid one of your secrets in it.” Aaryana flashed him a smile and dropped the necklace around her neck “You know all my secrets, Aaryana”

#YAMonday Chains bound her arms to her torso, wrists still tied behind her back, and more chains held her knees together. They’d sat her up against the iron cage that would be her home for the next few weeks. Or months, depending on the wind and the competency of the ship’s crew.

#YAMonday She was covered in sweat when she woke up. Last night had been the hottest so far this never-ending summer and she only got a few minutes of sleep every few hours. The rainy days this week were the wettest, too; was that why it was so hot today, so the land would dry?
