To keep ideas organized, I liked @NotionHQ. And @evernote to keep my random clippings from papers and webpages. @zotero as a reference manager (It's free, and #zotfile works great to manage the PDFs). @SlackHQ for team comms. And never trust hard copies, keep all in the cloud.
Could not imagine writing citations without #Zotero. Front-end work is automated from journal sites (or Amazon or Google books) requires only minor tweaks. I paid for extra storage to keep saved articles after MA program ended. #zotfile plugin exports annotations for analysis too

You could ask @Mendeley if it's a planned feature? Mendeley is better on the social recommendation side, but @zotero is open source and I absolutely love the #zotfile annotation feature for larger research projects. Plus the colour coding ref also.

I seem to have lost the ability to extract annotations from PDFs using #zotfile in @zotero but can't find any reasons why that might be...I've tried restarting and reinstalling zotfile but neither worked. Anyone able to help? #zotero
Couldn't agree more! I've briefly tested the beta and these new features are very cool. Especially in combination with #zotpress and #zotfile, @Zotero is just an awesome tool!

Your step 1 can be done with one click with the @zotero browser plugin and #zotfile extension. 2 clicks if you count closing the tab after zotero download. Then straight onto your step 2 :-)
I have all my articles and the database on my regular cloud drive (another vendor) and it works just fine across multiple devices, too. Using the #zotfile extension.
