So true. Another instance of #autonomysupportiveteaching. Expectations, routines, & procedures, esp when the rationale is explained, provide much-needed structure to support autonomy (which promotes intrinsic #motivation). Structure doesn't necessarily mean control.
Providing students some choice in learning is important for #intrinsicmotivation but only when we don't overwhelm them with options and we help them develop feelings of competence. Choice is one component of #autonomysupportiveteaching. #EdPsychModules
