‘Education policy in England is largely designed - and too often implemented - by those furthest from the consequences of its design. Success is measured in pilot schemes, glossy reports, and favourable headlines.’ And in Ireland? #edchatie
It is so easy to be wrong – and to persist in being wrong – when the costs of being wrong are paid by others.” Thomas Sowell’s line could be the motto of English education. Policy-makers get plaudits; teachers get the blame; children pay the bill. Link below

Big news stories this week about Sweden & Norway moving away from screens in the classrooom. I see similar in the UK - schools who were early adopters of screens now going back to pen & paper. People are realising that some technologies are just not suited for some purposes.
Students remember more when they write it down on paper. Not type it. Not screenshot it. Write it! The act of writing slows students down, adds tactile feedback, and helps lock it into memory.

Details end up being unclear when you go on a solo run @Education_Ire 🤷♂️ So if the student numbers, staffing and funding of these insultingly named “inclusive” classes are the exact same as standard autism special classes then what’s the difference or point in them? #EdChatIE
Fascinating…& how are those “inclusive classes” different from the special classes that already exist? Oh wait…they’re the exact same…except they have DOUBLE the students with the same resources… what an improvement 😒 Btw existing special classes are also “inclusive”
