after reading myth 8, the belief that children cant speak or write anymore is a played out myth. The variation and innovation is very normal in linguistic development. #fa25e211o2
I really found interesting how many pepole said that Journalist were ruining English. I think that their style of writing is so unique and beautiful because they use really good writing to explain so many things in very short words. #fa25e211o2
I appreciate how the myth didn’t criticize people for not learning or retaining “speaking english” but rather varieties of English. Separating elements of language and users. #fa25e211o2
Words changing overtime is a huge factor in language. Humans want to make it simple so that’s it’s easy to understand. - Althea Ramirez #fa25e211o2
I'm doing my topic on how technological development over the past fifty years influenced the way younger generations in the United States use language in online communication. #fa25e211o2
Myth 8 reminds us that no language is “pure” or superior—every language changes and borrows over time. Change isn’t corruption; it’s growth. 🌱 #fa25e211o2
Myth 8 really got to me, I feel like this myth is becoming true in the current world we live in. #fa25e211o2
English spelling may look chaotic to some but those odd spellings tell a story of language evolution. What looks “kattastroffik” is just history of sound change and tradition. #fa25e211o2
The "women talk too much" line has always annoyed me. it's not that women speak more, it's that people aren't used to listening when they do. #fa25e211o2
Myth 10 is an interesting myth to look at. I think that different languages do have their own unique grammar and they have unique meanings and many ways on how grammar is applied. #fa25e211o2
Lack of literacy is not a generational phenomenon, its an education issue!!! Schools need to be prioritized! #fa25e211o2
I know that lingustics is the study of all language. #fa25e211o2
I feel like women express themselves a lot now a days. Women think about themselves & how they react. - Althea Ramirez #fa25e211o2
"The hamburger ate the boy" is grammatically fine but semantically weird. This is proof that structure + meaning matter. Language isn't just rules, it's how humans frame reality itself. #fa25e211o2
While I agree that English has a lot of culture and mixed languages, sometimes I agree that the spelling is"kattastroffic." There are a lot of rules that counter each other or that are only true sometimes. It's okay to be "kattastroffic!" #fa25e211o2
#fa25e211o2 I am excited for this semester, hoping to gain a better understanding, as well as excitement for future assignment topics!
Phonology is the study how language structure the sounds of words. One key about Phonology is different ways of pronouncing words & their meanings. - Althea Ramirez #fa25e211o2

What's your favorite TV catchphrase?📺🤔 I love watching Friends, and one catchphrase I use a lot is when Joey says, "How you doin'?" #fa25e211o2
Some things I plan to mention in my essay on technology's impact on language communication include abbreviations, acronyms, changes in grammar, and impacts on culture. #fa25e211o2

Managing two systems strengthens attention, memory, and communication skills that support learning across subjects. #fa25e211o2
In bilingual play, children use both languages to express ideas and communicate with others. Code switching is helpful in practice vocabulary. #fa25e211o2
my research paper topic is based on bilingualism in children. Bilingual children are creative, flexible problem solvers. two languages= double cognitive strength! #fa25e211o2
Myth 6 really flipped my thinking. Every language has grammar—it’s just not always written or taught. Calling a language “ungrammatical” usually says more about the listener’s bias than the speaker’s skill. #Linguistics #LanguageEquality #fa25e211o2
It’s wild how people have been saying “English is going downhill” for centuries 😅. Language isn’t dying—it’s changing. Myth 5 reminded me that evolution doesn’t mean decay. It means creativity and adaptation. #LanguageMyths #Week3 #fa25e211o2
This week’s myth readings really changed how I think about language. 🤯 I learned that no language is “simple” or “better”—each one is complex and reflects its speakers’ culture. What we call “bad grammar” is often just bias disguised as truth. #LanguageMyths #fa25e211o2 #Week2.
Lack of literacy is not a generational phenomenon, its an education issue!!! Schools need to be prioritized! #fa25e211o2
Myth 8 talks about owe written English is dying and in a way I kind of agree. I don't think written English will completely disappear, but I don't think it's being used as much as it was in the past. #fa25e211o2
Society is the most literate its ever been. Just because younger generations change language does not mean they do not know how to use it. #fa25e211o2
Myth 8 says that schools are failing to teach kids proper English, but I have to disagree. I think schools are doing a good job, but things like abribiations and autocorrect make it easy to misuse the language. #fa25e211o2
Language is ever evolving & for that reason I think Myth 8 is a recycled excuse to look down on incoming generations as they navigate their culture of society and homelife. Language can't be "improper", it can only be representative of ones intimately curated self #fa25e211o2
I think that morphology is one of the more fun studies of linguistics (same with semantics) because I think that studying morphemes and word structure is not as intricate and tedious as phonology and phonetics allowing for more ease in the learning process! #fa25e211o2
Also, I think their reading/writing skills have been adapted more towards socialization rather than purely academic literacy. #fa25e211o2
