❄️🚧 Anti-drone nets meant to stop FPV drones failed under heavy snow, collapsing onto a Ukrainian logistics road and blocking vehicles. 🛠️🇺🇦 Engineers are working on fixes as winter weather adds new risks to supply operations. #Ukraine #Russia #war #drones #military #news

At least a third of the time there’s a problem with a jet bridge, or not an available gate. It’s maddening, and seems to only be a problem with SFO.

FPV is great when micro terrain matters and you cant just dig them out with artillery Inertial guidance... aka dead reckoning... is not very accurate and GPS gets jammed. Maybe an AI with some terrain maps is an alternative... maybe...

Poor visibility due to fog near the airport is affecting flights. Check the status of your flight before coming to airport and give yourself extra time to get here. #YOW

A good thread. Its worth keeping in mind FPV UAV limitations for balance: Short range (30km is only with mothership-itself a point of failure) only 10-15% actually hit target More manpower intensive than most realise (a single FPV team is 4 man usually) very limited payload

Personally I wouldn't use APVs because of their very specific and imperfect implementation, which isn't easily modifiable. Once you use it, you're stuck with its flaws and no plugin will fix it (because it's a core engine runtime). I'd rather ship a more malleable alt. system.

Ese no volaba, ni tenía guía "man on the loop" por fibra óptica. Y las contramedidas llegaron muy muy rápido. Con esto, llevamos casi dos años sin nada realmente efectivo contra los FPV

That's the whole issue - they are struggling in avionics. TBH, we are ahead of them in several areas at this point.

Even copilot doesn’t know how to fix this . I’m so screwed

You can do certain things with drones to somewhat mitigate rain, but as we're talking about cheap as chips FPV drones, that's not done. Fog just messes with sensors, it's almost impossible to operate in it. Really cold weather causes chaos with overloaded drones.

The F35 VTOL variant has been plagued with problems.

In addition to all the pre-existing threats, being within the FPV range means both a lot of extra losses for any short-range artillery and also being less useful because logistics (ammmo supply in this case) that close to the FLOT is seriously degraded (on both sides) by drones.

I think one thing is clear by now, and that's that 122mm is conpletely outclassed in this new warfare.

The problem with using IFVs for drone crews is three fold. One, IFVs are expensive to buy and operate. Two, IFVs are big and loud which makes detection easier. Three, people want to blow them up. Saying you blew up an IFV sounds much better than blowing up an armored Ford.

could fog be a factor? the fog reduces FPV drone effectiveness, prompting greater artillery use to compensate for lower drone activity, thus leading to increased losses

17/x 2140: Master ordered hard starboard rudder Ordered engine speed slowed to Dead Slow Ahead for anchoring. C/O reported air coming out of FPV sounding pipe and inability to sound it. Moments later, air was also coming from the FPV manhole cover

The FAA says failing to fix them could lead to “controlled flight into terrain or traffic confliction.”

Problem with small fleets of props, weather delays, parts issues etc
