The skyscraper problem is helping us to develop spatial reasoning by following “rules” as we attempt to meet our goals. Some students thought this was like a visual sudoku puzzle. #WeAreChicopee #WRDSBmath #gr8math

Success! 8B completed today’s @breakoutEDU challenge, “A Case of the Mondays”. Awesome teamwork and collaboration. Way to go, Chargers! #gr8math
Learning how to use what we know about perfect squares to help us estimate non-perfect squares today with @Desmos Square Root Sauare Dance! #gr8math #wrdsbmath
Anchoring our thinking with some concrete, visual conceptualizations of fractions including a money model, clock model and an area model. Deep understanding now will help us to feel confident as we move to more abstract thinking about fractions as the year goes on. #gr8math
Not only did we explore four 4’s - we had groups of students in 8B exploring four 2’s-9’s. We are focusing on collaborating effectively and dusting off some of our numeracy skills. Great effort today, 8B! #gr8math
I’m going through and giving individual feedback on each students reflections and it is so incredible to be able to connect with each student & their learning. I was blown away by the quality of the reflections but also how well they can articulate their needs. #gr8math #math

More thanks to @MCPE_Medfield and their support of our MATHS grant! Focusing on the visual of exponential growth! “Well that grew fast!” Wait until you see tomorrow’s work! @erin_kearney @MaryellenDubois #gr8math #medfieldmath #bmsed
.@erin_kearney @MaryEllenDuBoi1 This thread is great. I love the predict +-0 idea. Just like with slope… inc, dec,or 0 first. @ijkijKevin we were just talking about this—use 0 a lot and it helps normalize. Like the ideas! #gr8math
PSA for Math8/Alg1 textbook publishers: when students learn to solve equations with no solutions, 1 solution, or infinitely many solutions, one of the most common misconceptions is that 0 is not a number, so x=0 is no solution. You need a LOT of practice items on that type.
Here's a video looking at creating pattern rules for partial variations. Uses a visual approach from pattern tiles - algebra - graph, great for #gr8Math or #MFM1P. #TVDSBMath youtube.com/watch?v=afcwxu…

Incredible! I’ll share next week with families. #IL #gr8Math #titleone my list contains basic supplies to books to GC for flexibile seating. amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls…
#shrinkmylist #IL #Gr8Math the erasers but pencils aren’t the cheapest on my list. However, both are HUGE basic needs in math. I came into a barebones classroom. amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls…
Thank you! I want to share the ELA love in my #GR8Math classroom. I was a teacher of all subjects so when I made the decision to focus on math, I gifted other teachers my classroom library. #readinginmath #clearthelist amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls…
