You can use FreeBSD and install a desktop on it. But you might also have a look at #helloSystem (FreeBSD based).
describes what the issue is, and I've been running into broken Intel graphics drivers (from pkg) almost every time a new FreeBSD version came out. This leads to #helloSystem lagging behind FreeBSD for ~2 quarters.
I agree with article bit I have one reason to NOT upgrade to 13.2. Packages for 13.2 are built on 13.1 so all kernel related (drm-kmod/virtualbox/...) packages (60+) are broken. That will be fixed 3 months after 13.2 was released (with 13.1 EoL). Then I will upgrade to 13.2.
Yeah, the currently missing #arm64 support of #helloSystem is definitely a disadvantage. Hope this will change in future

I've implemented support for GNUstep-style .app and for ROX-style .AppDir bundles, and for .AppImage files in a customized version of pcmanfm-qt fork, Filer, the file manager in #helloSystem. Would be glad to see it backported to upstream one day
