I posted concerns about papers from this researcher in 2019 onto PubPeer. Here is a new one. Can you spot at least two problems? #ImageForensics
#ImageForensics, petridish edition. Each plate represents a differently treated culture of C. albicans, treated with various denture base resins. Tell me what you see.
Hey @tandfonline - you should not allow authors to address photoshopped tumors by just leaving out the photoshopped tumors. This paper was 1 year old at the time of correction. Where are the originals? Horrible editorial decision. #ImageForensics
On my way to Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where I will be giving a talk and a workshop about scientific integrity and #ImageForensics tomorrow. Hope to see some of you there!
Whoa - a paper from 1998 - still the days of radioactive protein blot incubation and with most labs bringing their blots to the photographer for an analog photo. But Photoshop already existed. Can you spot it? #ImageForensics
This paper, published in @SciReports, has it all: Apparent duplications of molecular weight markers, protein bands, graphs, and reuse of images from the author's previous lab. #ImageForensics nature.com/articles/s4159… Take a look here: pubpeer.com/publications/9…
#ImageForensics time! This one is very easy. Nine panels, each from a differently treated group of mice. Can you spot the overlapping panels?
Retraction at @PLOSONE of this paper with multiple duplications from authors at the First Hospital of Jilin University. Reported in October 2015. You gotta be very patient in the integrity business! Thank you, PLOS ONE! #ImageForensics pubpeer.com/publications/0…
#ImageForensics, materials science edition. @PubPeer already has some of the duplications, but not all of them! cc @MicrobiomDigest
Can you find an unexpected overlap here? The middle panels show the merged top and bottom panels - this is expected and OK. But can you find an overlap that is unexpected? #ImageForensics
Hoo boy. Thanks @MicrobiomDigest for making me and many others more aware of academic fraud. I wonder if a few years ago I would have even thought to double-check the gels in a prospective student's MSc thesis! #ImageForensics #EasyMode
As alluded to last week, I have concerns about the latest paper from Cassava $SAVA and Dr. Wang, which are now posted on PubPeer. I look forward to the authors' clarifications & corrections. #ImageForensics #ResearchIntegrity @microbiomdigest pubpeer.com/publications/B…
[2/2] However,… It was noted that the specific sections identified as compromised in the published images correspond to blurry regions in the original data." What "AI tools or similar means" do you use @ElsevierConnect?! @ImageTwinAI @Proofig #imageforensics

I am getting much more engagement with these challenges on BlueSky, and I am trying to post different ones there. So if you like the #ImageForensics challenges, make sure to check the other site!
#ImageForensics - can you spot the panels that are identical or overlapping (and also an error in the labels under each panel)?

Editor in Chief of Brain (journal) is utterly naive about #ImageForensics - he allowed one version of a presumably photoshopped image to be replaced by ... another photoshopped image. This is the incompetence we sleuths are dealing with. Kudos to @mumumouse2 @arbmacip!
