Back from #LambdaConf in Este Park, Colorado I now just arrived for the closing keynote at #DevoxxUk in London! 😀
#LambdaConf Day One @jdegoes introducing how functional programming has won over the past decade: lambda one, pattern matching one, a lot of trickle-down from FP to the mainstream. So this year's focus has been broader than “just” FP: cloud native, Wasm, etc. 👇

I'm tempted to record a "long version" of my #LambdaConf 2024 talk on "Prototypes: Object-Orientation, Functionally"—with more details, maybe 90 minutes including Q&A, rather than 50 minutes. Would who would be willing to be my online public? How about this Sunday at 1100 EST ?

Funny that I think of Durable Execution in terms of persisting continuations (i.e. the Future of the computation) à la Viaweb / Seaside / Uncommon Web / etc., but many I've met #LambdaConf instead try to persist its history (i.e. the Past of the computation)!
Preparing my talk at #LambdaConf forced me to clarify and simplify many concepts. @Gilad_Bracha gave me lots of feedback, corrections and historical background (he used ThingLab in 1989!). Big failure: I couldn't convince him (so far) of the utility of multiple inheritance.
For some reason, there was less Haskell and Category Theory than before this year at #LambdaConf. I miss my abstract minded friends and hope they'll be back next year. On the other hand, we had more APL, with a double serving of mindblowing by @arcfide, and many Urbiters joined.
Thank you #Lambdaconf for having me. I really wanted to give this talk at a functional programming conference, because I don't think most graphics devs would know what to do with it. And yes, it was "just" made with Apple Keynote.
Mind blowing and gorgeous endnote by @unconed. This must have taken months to create. #LambdaConf2024
Steve Wittens is a few minutes into his #LambdaConf 2024 keynote and already blows our minds.

Okay, dependent types was pretty hardcore. I'm hoping recursion schemes isolated to lists will take it a bit easier on me. #Lambdaconf
