Problem: Our code has old patterns that we don’t want people to copy. Solution: 1. Move the old code to a folder called “legacy”. 2. Tell everyone. "Don't use the patterns in the legacy folder for new features."🚩 The legacy folder centralizes and highlights our tech debt.

I feel like "legacy code" is a pejorative and I wish it wasn't. I find the challenge of adding features and refactoring existing code to be a very fun puzzle, and I wish there was a label that reflects that
"Legacy" code is underrated. The very fact that it lived long enough to become legacy code is evidence of its value. Keeping this in mind helps me feel grateful in the face of frustration refactoring old code. Without this code would the company have survived to employ me? ❤️
