every time ive tried linux was a horrible experience

I've been experimenting heavily with Linux as of late. Mostly as a byproduct of building my own NAS at home and removing myself from cloud providers (de-googling). And I must say, it's gorgeous, and it's so fast, I'm in awe. However, it's not all rainbows and sunshine; I'm…

I’m a programmer, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I find it to be a more enjoyable experience than MacOS, and miles ahead of Windows. I think if you’re willing to eat shit with Windows, might as well eat less with Linux.

First day with Linux as a desktop: This is so refreshing! I get why people like this. Definitely some issues here and there, but no deal-breakers yet.

wow, this just works™ do it again, feels so gooood. why me so dummy depressed for last 2 months just because of windows error, ditching it, and decide full linux, refactoring half-decade worth of system habits i'm glad btw. can't wait for what i can do with it :D

started using linux and everything works fine except for the fact that specifically library of ruina completely tanks the performance

i *started* using linux in 2012. i still use linux as my main os, with NixOS. I've used nearly every distro with gnome, kde and bspwm. It sucked back then and it sucks less now, but not enough to make a normie to switch.

I had awful experience in my first 8 years trying Linux on and off. Turned out kernel just really didn't gel with my MOBO and over few months it decayed in various ways. Focusing the most on some set hw list updated every few years would be net positive imo.

I am only an intermittent or very infrequent Linux User, but every couple of years I check it out again. The first distribution I ever tried was SuSE Linux, then some years later Ubuntu and more recently Linux Mint.

HAH! Well, there's some truth to that! I've certainly had my own fair share of struggles with Linux lately. Though, in my case I think it was probably a bit inevitable. Too many of the programs I've tried to install were, a bit on the niche side. The stuff I've installed that…

Didn't think Linux would feel this clean and lightweight. Everything runs so smoothly.

I'm actually happier and happier by the day with this linux installation. windows could never be this snappy, responsive, and transparently functional. And when issues arise, I am experienced enough that I make it work, and it works. tada 🎉

As someone who just switched to linux from windows recently, I don't disagree. Some apps are just unusable at least for now until i find some fix

If anyone out there wants to ditch @Windows and that invasive AI, login, B.S and decides to make the switch to #linux feel free to comment or DM me for help / advice. 20+ years experience and happy to help converts.

This is Linux's greatest strength, but it's also its greatest flaw bit.ly/4p0Whl5

I understand, but also, I think I'm starting to be less flamed by this kind of thing. For example, I'm using linux for like 5 months now, and I had almost 0 serious issues with it (I mean, things that would require deep intervention rather than just rebooting the computer).…

The best part about linux is that it's yours. This has up sides and downsides. You have complete privacy by default. I have not seen an ad I didn't want to see for years. You can choose your own window manager and OS and make tradeoffs that fit you. Linux is also incredibly kind.…
