#makingworkvisible @ 4:15 pm. Leaving after my 7:30am start to take my kids to skating, where I will work on 27 reading responses while I watch. After school I started the letters and created a math scavenger hunt to move beyond the text and out of our seats. #bced #lovemyjobtho
On #IWD2022 I salute these fantastic women who gave selflessly their time, energy & creativity in organising the hugely successful Women’s Festival in Alloa on Sat. #MakingWorkVisible 💚🤍💜
Oh, and whilst making sure my husband was up on all the gym kit, scout uniform duties before I dashed out the house, I spent five muns hunting out my cat shoes 😻 #MakingWorkVisible #IWD2019
Stop by the Tasktop booth during the morning break to talk with author & speaker @dominicad about #MakingWorkVisible #DOES18
What a fabulous celebration in the @Daily_Record of some wonderful women on #IWD2022. Thank you @jk_rowling @joannaccherry @JohannLamont @JoanMcAlpine. And you to the Sole Sisters @VoteWithOurFeet #MakingWorkVisible #BuyAPaper
Bittersweet feelings today. Last day of a creative, compelling and spirited virtual #DOES20. Fortunately, lots of great sessions to look forward to, including another @dominicad session. Join her for a virtual tour into flow at 13.50, Track 1 #makingworkvisible
Most of what we do as carers is invisible to the outside world. Arranging appointments, endless form-filling, waiting for busy “professionals” to return our calls, constantly worrying about the future, and forever doubting if we have done enough. #MakingWorkVisible #IWD2019
I took the day off paid work on Friday to do some volunteering. I’ve just wrangled my inbox and Todoist into shape by triaging email and allocating tasks from Friday to blocks of time during the week. #MakingWorkVisible
Happy #IWD2022! Today I am participating in #MakingWorkVisible for @EngenderScot - to highlight how women’s work is often undervalued & underpaid
On #InternationalWomensDay I want to appreciate all the women that have put in so much work, - visible and invisible - that, like me, they haven't even had time to tweet about how important #InternationalWomensDay is!! #MakingWorkVisible
It's my last day at @youngwomenscot (I'm on a half day and starting this afternoon) Here's my last blog post as Comms Coordinator - reflecting on my personal journey and my hopes for the future ❤️ ywcascotland.org/a-heartfelt-th… #MakingWorkVisible
Good morning and happy #IWD2022 ! Today help us to highlight all the work done by women in Scotland by live-tweeting your day using #MakingWorkVisible, because we know whether it's 👩🍳👩🔧👩🔬👩🚒👩⚖️ or 👩👧👦🏬🤱🗓🍽, women's work often goes undervalued & underpaid.
Policy team meeting covering CEDAW, Rosa-funded project, manifesto, hate crime, mental health, and social security. #MakingWorkVisible
Doing admin for mum. Middle-aged and older women provide a disproportionate share of support for elderly relatives. It is not just about physical care, admin and life managing can also be time-consuming. My sister does more of this than I do. #MakingWorkVisible
Checking in on the coming week. It’s a pretty light one in many ways, but still some coordination to do with my partner about dinners, grocery shopping, and life admin. #MakingWorkVisible
A wee 45 minute break and time for some cheese and crackers. I’ve never found it harder to take proper breaks than during #COVIDー19. There’s so little natural downtime in the day but it’s important to make some. And eat cheese. #MakingWorkVisible

Morning! I’m joining @EngenderScot #MakingWorkVisible campaign for #IWD19 - most of my work is very visible, but what is going unseen in the background are my caring responsibilities; first up is breakfast and meds for two very lovely, but elderly parents
Happy #IWD2019 pals. As part of #MakingWorkVisible I give you the desk of a ‘creative’ who is in work - spreadsheets, lists, PowerPoint printouts, more lists, contracts to sign, emails. No tears of stress today, so far. It’s not yet 9.30, so there’s plenty time.
9 in 10 single parents are women and are the sole carers and breadwinners for their families. We fully support the @EngenderScot #MakingWorkVisible campaign to fully recognise & document women's unpaid labour this #IWD2024 and every day. ⏬
👩🔧 We know much of the work done by women is often invisible in society. ⚖ Women's equality cannot be realised while women still do so much more childcare, care for older & disabled people, & housework than men. engender.org.uk/news/blog/maki…
💜 We're so grateful to everyone who has taken time out of their busy lives over the last 6 years to share their stories, tweets & blogs with us. You can see all our #MakingWorkVisible stories here: makingworkvisible.engender.org.uk
💬 Since 2017, Engender has been marking International Women's Day by asking women across Scotland to share their day - our #MakingWorkVisible campaign may be over, but our work to recognise & document women's unpaid labour & work for women's substantive equality goes on!

Case Study on Bottlenecks - part 1
I didn’t do much for #IWD due to having a house full of Covid - was even too poorly/busy to do #MakingWorkVisible (ironically!). There are so many women who make life better at work & wider & too many to list. Some I’ve been thinking about & being inspired by most recently are:
📨 #FridayFeministFive is on the way to your inbox, Engender members! This week's newsletter includes our #MakingWorkVisible campaign & our briefing for the @ScotParl #IWD2023 debate, as well as events, opportunities & some great feminist films for your weekend 📽
Thank you to everyone who joined us & shared their days to help us highlight the unpaid & invisible work done by women on #IWD & every day. You can find out more about #MakingWorkVisible & why we're highlighting women's work - in all its forms - here: makingworkvisible.engender.org.uk
Nearly done. #MakingWorkVisible means different things at different times. A decade ago, it would've involved a lot of childcare. Last year, more about mum. Today it's been about trying to fill the gap being left by party politics regarding the representation of women's lives.
23.30 replying to a message from a desperate friend. Thinking of my mum today - it would have been her and my dads 54th wedding anniversary today on #IWD2023 but dad didn’t remember. Missing her a lot. Carrying grief is hard work. Loving is hard work. #makingworkvisible
9.40 FaceTime with teen about her day. Sent her tickets I had bought for her and her stepsister to go to @FatboySlim tomorrow 9.50 illicit FaceTime with son about his day. Both at their dads. #MakingWorkVisible
7-9.15 spending time with 16 amazing women sharing, caring, laughing and crying. And eating. Another great session but running a session takes energy. 9.05pm realised I had spilt my dinner down my jumper. Great… So loved spending time with these women. #MakingWorkVisible
That # with the odd exemption was a total embarrassment. You have lost connection with women in Scotland. What work will YOU do to reconnect? Given that you are extremely well paid to do so. #makingworkvisible
6pm headed out to buy supplies snacks and drinks for evening session of womens group for @broke_not . Got there for 6.40 to set up and checked in on son and his new table top group at same venue. #MakingWorkVisible

And I'm currently kid-trapped on the edge of the bed while my sleep hating child finally heads off to dreamland (while still sorting out @girlguiding admin bits and parent messages) #makingworkvisible
So after dinner (@BrianMcleish is chef in our house), there was a bit of playtime for Tiny while I caught up on more @girlguiding admin (sorting out safeguarding training for some new young volunteers) #makingworkvisible
21.20 - Rosie off to bed without needing to be persuaded = a massive win. Rarely have a day with such balance - work/life in almost equal measures = happiness 😊❤️ Could possibly have made a bigger effort on housework but hey, learning to let go 😂 …#MakingWorkVisible
And on that note - my mum is a wonderful woman who provides childcare for Caitlin while we work. She reduced her hours to part time then retired early to look after my gran, and has looked after Caitlin 3 days per week since 2021 ❤️ #MakingWorkVisible

Mostly done, just a few to go. Campaigning to get a woman's health expert onto Edinburgh City Council tomorrow, and nudge the sex balance a bit nearer 50/50. #Votes4Elaine Can't think of a more appropriate way to spend #IWD2023 #MakingWorkVisible

Before I head out, I'm celebrating @ForthFeminists who last month organised, unpaid, a hugely successful women's conference for c200 people. They gave me this lovely mug as a thank-you for speaking. None of the speakers did so as part of their paid work. #makingworkvisible

A small contribution to #MakingWorkVisible - school run with grumpy 5 y/o. We are late due to a dispute over how her toast was sliced. When I’m in London, it’s @joe_jag doing the school run and dispute resolution. I couldn’t do my job without him. #IWD2019
