Top 10 #Microservices Design Patterns and Principles — Examples dlvr.it/TS5FwP

The biggest lie of #microservices was independent deployability. In reality, most features require coordinated changes across multiple services. You didn't eliminate dependencies; you just traded predictable monolith releases for chaotic game of Slack-driven lockstep deployments.

Most AI agent prototypes never make it to prod. The reason? They fail spectacularly when networks drop, machines crash, or state gets lost mid-transaction. #AIAgents Fail in Production. Here's Why State Management Matters youtu.be/x55c4w4pz20?si… #Microservices #Kubernetes

The outbox pattern solves the dual-write problem in #microservices. Instead of messaging a broker directly and risking data drift during a crash, you save events to a database outbox table in the same transaction as your business data to ensure perfect consistency.

To build a #modularmonolith that can scale, you must enforce strict boundaries early. Each module must own its own data & communicate only through public APIs. By treating internal modules as isolated black boxes, you can easily spin them off into #microservices later on.

#Monoliths don't beat #microservices every time.A modular monolith gives you domain boundaries without service mesh nightmares. Microservices are for solving team scaling and independent load demands, not bad code. Choose the operational tax you want to pay.

The unanswered question of the #microservices era was: Who owns data integrity across service boundaries? Without a single database transaction, if service fails mid-flow, systems drift out of sync. Teams spent years building custom scripts to fix data consistency. #SystemDesign

To avoid a distributed monolith, follow 2 rules. First, enforce data sovereignty; services must never share a DB. Second, use asynchronous messaging instead of chains of synchronous REST calls to ensure that one slow service cannot cascade & take down entire app. #Microservices

In this thread, I'll walk you through when to use a standalone proxy which is just a single point of enforcement (data plane). 🧵👇#ServiceMesh #Microservices #DevOps

Usually, vibe coders favor #Monoliths because the #AI can see the whole project at once. If you’re doing #Microservices, you’re likely using @cursor_ai's codebase indexing or #LLMs with massive context windows (like Gemini) to bridge the gap between the isolated folders.

To all the vibe coders? Are you guys opting for monolith repo or microservices? If microservices, then how you’re coordinating between projects wrt context window ?

The transition from monoliths to #microservices was sold as the ultimate solution for engineering velocity and scaling. #SystemDesign #PlatformEngineering

You know that even #monoliths create a different, worse kind of hell at a certain scale. #Microservices

The saga pattern solves data consistency across #microservices by breaking workflows into a chain of local transactions. If a step fails mid-chain, the saga runs compensating transactions in reverse to act as an undo button, returning the system to a clean state. #SystemDesign

Well choosing between a standalone proxy & a #servicemesh for mTLS depends primarily on the scale of your architecture & the level of security automation you need. #Microservices #DevOps

Why @Shopify Rejected #Microservices (And What They Did Instead) Everyone talks about microservices when the system gets big. Shopify went in a different direction. So how Shopify evolved its architecture into a #modularmonolith, why that decision made sense at their scale, and

The shift to microservices can feel overwhelming, but I’ve found that starting small really helps. Focus on one part of your app and break it down. It’s less about perfection and more about gradual improvement. Anyone else find success in this approach? #Microservices

When a gadget starts glitching, should it have a safety switch that turns it off to prevent a total crash? Cast your vote! #Microservices #SoftwareArchitecture

In the era of massive context windows & codebase indexing, the organizational excuse for #microservices is disappearing. Keep the context in one place until the hardware (or the team size) literally forces you to split it.

Why do we still rely on so many monolithic architectures when microservices can offer so much flexibility? I get it’s a comfort zone for some, but tech moves fast. Isn’t it time to rethink how we build and scale? #Microservices #DevOps

Microservices don’t fail individually. They fail as a chain. One slow service → everything slows down. Think end-to-end, not service-to-service. #Microservices #Backend #Developers
