As someone who has been taking the bus for almost 15 years, I would love to see my #ottcouncillors try out our faulted transit system for a week. #OttTransitChallenge #TransitWeek2019
Heading home from @Carleton_U: An #OttTransitChallenge #TransitWeek2019 Story... Currently on the O-Train because more than 100 students are waiting for the bus. This is *not* the most efficient way for me to get home - at all - but here we are. 😐 @freetransitott @OC_Transpo
On a toasty warm bus heading home to review the transit budget. #OttTransitChallenge #TransitChallenge
We haven't forgotten about you, drivers. The #OttTransitChallenge focused on public transit, but what's it like behind the wheel? #ottnews #ottawa
Coming onto our beautiful campus on bus number 10 in support of #TransitWeek2019. Great to see so many students, staff and faculty #otttransitchallenge
Morning commute was a 10 min drive to park & ride 30 min bus ride to tunneys 10 min train ride to uottawa (50 min total approx) back home 30 min ride to Eagelson. Good commute day - it would be longer if I had to go through the local areas to get home #OttTransitChallenge
Riding @OC_Transpo to city hall after a meeting in #bayward this morning. #otttransitchallenge Glad not to drive when there is freezing rain in #ottweather forecast. #Ottawa #ottcity
Today’s commute involved an early morning #63, too much stuff to lug to the office, and the awkward balance of needing to drink that first coffee and struggling to do so on the bus. However great to see the sidewalks weren’t as icy as I thought! #OttTransitChallenge #KanataNorth
How did I get home tonight? I took #OttTransitChallenge but these cleats helped me grip the icy sidewalks from the bus stop. Highly recommended accessory to your winter wardrobe! #Ottawa #TransitWeek2019
Hope that there will be another #OttTransitChallenge in the summer. It would be good for councillors to see it's not just the weather that is a problem for OC Transpo. Service is unreliable even in good conditions. Plus poor route design means lots of walking in the hot weather.
A video of me driving the O-train this morning. It was fun but I would rather be passenger. @OC_Transpo #otttransitchallenge
We commuters were packedlikesardines on @OC_Transpo bus 94 Millennium. Stood from Tunney’s (the location of my office) until Metcalfe St. This was my ‘view’. #otttransitchallenge @OttTransitRider
On my way to @ottawacity city hall for council meeting and transit commission meetings. Busy day as the 2019 budget will be tabled. #otttransitchallenge
Why is the 104 most likely always coming in a small bus, especially during express times? It's basically the only bus that will take students from Orleans all the way to Carleton, and yet they always pull up in their small bus? #OttTransitChallenge #octranspo
Currently enjoying my chauffeured ride home, with some good tunes and Twitter scrolling. #OttTransitChallenge
I’m lucky that I wait at a stop with a heated shelter because my regular bus didn’t show. I am also lucky that I can catch the next one 5 mins later. Not everyone has that option. Stay warm this morning, folks. #OttTransitChallenge
Taking the bus to get to a Transit Commission meeting. Seems appropriate and I get some work done while I ride. #otttransitchallenge #Ottawa @OC_Transpo #bayward
#OttTransitChallenge En route pour le parc Balena pour le carnaval d'hiver (14h à 16h). Venez en grand nombre.

It absolutely is! But once a year, we run #OttTransitChallenge to encourage decision-makers to take #OttBus / #OttLRT to experience what the regular users do everyday...many already take transit but, for others, it's been an eye-opening experience. #OttTransitChallenge2022
Just a reminder that the 2nd annual #TransitChallenge2020 is coming in Feb...I hope Mayor will agree to take it this year! He can still go to events like this, he’ll just have to allow lil extra time...like all #OttTransit users do, every. single. day. #OttTransitChallenge /SB
I had a great evening at the Glebe Community Centre attending “A taste in the Glebe”. Ottawa has so many amazing restaurants to choose from! Thank you to everyone for coming out! It was all delicious!
We’ll let everyone know when the invites go out to the mayor, councillors, Mr. Manconi, and co. for the #TransitChallenge2020...because that’s exactly the point of it for 7 days in February. #OttTransitChallenge #OCTranspo #OttCity /SB
Sadly quite tone deaf. 😕 But they’ll have a chance to take #OttTransit more often if they agree to take part in the 2nd Annual #OttTransitChallenge! Invitations will go out in January. #TransitChallenge2020 #OttLRT #OttBus #ParaParity /SB
You know, we did talk about that...maybe the heart of the summer when the routes are all reduced and then everyone still needs to get places? Would love to have ppl in power see how difficult that is. 😕 #TransitChallenge2020 #OttTransitChallenge #OttTransit #OCTranspo /SB
Remember the #otttransitchallenge from last winter? freetransitottawa.ca/transit-week-c… It would be interesting to do that again, now that #ottLRT is running. I'd like to see @AllanHubley_23 and all members of Transit Commission participate for the full week.
If he had participated in #OttTransitChallenge, he'd know the train portion takes about 1/2 the time as the portion of the journey by bus. The entire end-to-end run is already noticeably shorter.
LOL @StephenBlais just noted he spends twice as long on bus to train as on train. He asked how this can be addressed. JM has said fund additional train lines! #transit #lrt #ottpoli
How many councillors have committed to using transit to get to and from city hall office for every trip between Sept 14 to Oct 31? Will you join us during transition? #ottTransitChallenge
Why mention @BarrhavenJan (planning chair) and not also @AllanHubley_23 (Transit commission chair) or @StephenBlais (Transportation chair)? They all sit on FEDCO. They've all being here since last Official Pan and Transportation Master Plan. None jumped into #OttTransitChallenge.
Perhaps next #OttTransitChallenge is for councillors to use @OC_Transpo booking system for a week on behalf of a #ParaTranspo rider in their ward.
I was struck that #Ottawa transit customer journey map for commission meeting tomorrow does not mention taking #transit as part of its data gathering process. #OttTransitChallenge
Using transit, cycling, and pedestrian infrastructure on a weekly basis should be a job requirement for decision makers and politicians.
His 2nd last #otttransitchallenge day was with us, last #TreatWednesday! 🚌 He had to stand lol #crammedbus
A video of me driving the O-train this morning. It was fun but I would rather be passenger. @OC_Transpo #otttransitchallenge
Even @CouncillorGlen made it out one #TreatWednesday. Thanks for joining us! #otttransitchallenge
Thank you, @CouncillorGlen for taking the #otttransitchallenge for the entire month of February! It's great to have an engaged representative who's not afraid to ride the bus. Looking forward to improvements to service for #Stittsville soon!
That, coupled with NO HIKES in parking fees and the city is basically encouraging driving over transit ridership. Parking fees haven’t been raised in 11 YEARS! #Autowa #OttCity #otttransitchallenge
The #otttransitchallenge continues to garner North American attention. It’s imperative Ottawa does more to encourage ridership. That will be difficult with continued fare hikes higher than inflation. #ottnews #Ottawa

Great👍! I wish @tm_kavanagh or @cmckenney or any councillors would try to follow me on a day of getting around for errands. It's a painful and lengthy marathon on buses in my neighborhood (in Bayward) when I need to go out. This'd be a true #otttransitchallenge 🙏
Excellent. Now if we can get more councillors do this over the next few months. #otttransitchallenge lives on.
Basing ridership projections to @FlyYOW on #97 ridership is silly b/c airport buses are terrible for accommodating travelers! Given recent #otttransitchallenge, why lug your luggage onto a bus with no stowage when there's Uber? @JimWatsonOttawa #ottlrt ottawacitizen.com/news/local-new…
