Although there’s lots of pending tree-work still to do, it’s nice to spend some quality time in the #vineyard (although my back doesn’t think so!). The #Parellada look amazing at this time of year with their bronze coloured leaves; they will go green as they mature… 😉🍇🫶🇪🇸

First tirage of the season, a fruity little Parellada Piquette! Not much of pure #Parellada juice this year as the vines are still establishing themselves after replanting them following the drought. Two more years and they should be cropping again, fingers crossed… 😉🥂🍾🤞🇪🇸

Choosing to graft myself might be a double edged sword. On the plus side, it gives me the opportunity to replace the dead #Parellada clone 1-42 with a better local clone, & replace some of the #Syrah with more Grenache. On the negative side, I have to do all the grafting… 😳✂️🍇

Returned to find bud burst in the #vineyard, which highlighted the current state of failures post pruning. It’s early days yet, but it appears that twelve #Parellada plus a few #Syrah and #Viognier didn’t make it through the dry winter… 😳🍇🇪🇸

We’ve seen heavy losses to the 2019 planting of #Parellada Cl.1-42, but this old local clone keeps on regardless, which is making me want to propagate from this single vine to replant everything we’ve lost... 🙃🌱🥂🍾 #SparklingWine

Pressing day for the piquette after seven days fermenting on the skins. I don’t know if I’ll keep doing this when all the newly grafted #Parellada start producing fruit, but for now it’s a way to stretch production… 😉🥂🍾🇪🇸 #SparklingWine

Comprar planta #parellada desde 1,70€ 🛒 Esta es una variedad de origen español 🇪🇸 bastante vigorosa, se adapta muy bien a zonas elevadas y produce unos vinos blancos aromáticos, frescos, con poco alcohol y afrutados. Una variedad muy utilizada en la elaboración del cava. 🍾🥂

Adjusting acidity on yesterday’s #Parellada to bring it up over 6g/L tartaric. To be fair, it was pretty good already at 5.85g/L naturally, but some is bound to drop out & I don’t want it tasting flat if I’m going to sparkle it! This could be the smallest batch I’ve made… 😉🥂🍾

Not massive bunches this year, but their berries are certainly ready to pop! Always good to see the #Parellada looking nice and clean after removing the nets. Happy days… 😉🥂🍾🫶🇪🇸 #wine
