We really had a great time with #sitTO at #100in1DayTO exploring all of the many places where seating could transform a space!
During #100in1dayTO in 2016, #sitTO put the spotlight on the lack of seating in Toronto’s public spaces. popupcity.net/toronto-tweets…
Wasn’t there a #SitTO movement to advocate for more public seating in Toronto? Or are we still afraid of being ticketed for sitting on benches during the pandemic?
Pretty cool how we can’t eat indoors at food places right now, but years of anti-homeless urban design mean there’s almost nowhere comfortable to eat outdoors either.
Nice to see some of the temporary parklets coming together along King St as part of the #KingStreetPilot. Bring on warmer weather! #SitTO
Some interesting ideas and prototypes at #1UPToronto that remind us a lot of the #SitTO #100in1DayTO Urban Intervention!
I feel like plastic Muskoka chairs are one of the unsung but brilliant innovations of public space and #sitTO in recent years. Love seeing them in parks, by the waterfront trail, etc.
Jika sso tidak dapat menghormati & mengasihi kepada sesama mahkluk yang kasat mata, dapatkah dia melakukannya kepada yang tidak tampak...??? #sitto
Back at College Park since it opened a few weeks ago. Lots of people using it. All the benches were occupied. People playing Frisbee. Will be even nicer once when the trees get a bit of height and density. #urbto #sitTO

My turn to explore the new accessible/winterized trail from U of T Scarborough to Highland Creek. I like the side viewing stations (tho closed for winter) #walkTO #sitTO

(Outside the park itself, the majority of seating options in the neighbourhood are offered by private businesses, as is the case most places in Toronto. #sitTO)
#Toronto is a mean, mean city. The city gov, numerous health services & thousands upon thousands of neighbours. The accelerating drive to more fully abandon poor people is unconscionable. 1. Here on the west side of Union Station they have removed all the seating…
Maybe we should stage a peaceful sit in. Bring a folding chair, a picnic and hang out. Talk to people. Maybe some spontaneous music. Sounds like fun. Like summer in a city. 🤷🏻♀️#SitTO
Former layby on Bloor West near Royal York now houses Muskoka chairs observing the new bike lane #sitTO
i like how the concrete circular retaining wall is of a convenient height and width for passengers waiting for a bus to sit #SitTO
The “privately owned public space” at the @FourSeasons Toronto. With nowhere to sit, as usual, because they’ve taken away the chairs. #sitto @CityPlanTO
Motion on "Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities" by @JoshMatlow includes calls for road design guidelines that support senior mobility, and more benches #sitTO secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda…
Beautiful new sidewalk on Wellington Street at The Well, designed by Claude Cormier. With extensive, not defensive benches. #sitTO
Nice to see new #seating on @queenstreetwest @cityoftoronto ! Despite the awful/typical vandalism they are adding a lot to the public realm.. It is also nice to see non-standard City of Toronto yawn-fest benches !
These women are so courageous and one of the stories that really moved me is the story of Sudan’s #Sitto. Session presenters has some memorabilia of her, she was killed and commemorative necklaces as well as stickers are a way of remembering the fallen #MozFest
This is something that I really noticed when I was in need of having both hips replaced. Sometimes you just need to sit for a bit. Toronto is absolutely the worst when it comes to adequate accessible public seating. #SitTO #TOpoli
#topoli Visiting almost any other big city offers a bracing reminder that Toronto’s approach to park benches is parsimonious, anti-social and occasionally sadistic. Why, in parkettes like these, are the paths not lined with benches? A question for the mayoral candidates…

An absolutely gorgeous day on #StCharlesAvenue in #UptownNewOrleans. Or as my #Sitto (Arabic for grandmother) used to say “the university section” (once 4 schools not just 2) And of course this time of year, the #SkeletonHouse is in full swing
Time to revive #sitTO? Pretty simple message: whether in a decent park or on a quiet street or in a clean, safe public space, every Torontonian should be able to sit with dignity.
(Outside the park itself, the majority of seating options in the neighbourhood are offered by private businesses, as is the case most places in Toronto. #sitTO)
The three ‘O’’s in TORONTO are coveted places to sit and watch the world go by. The ‘O’’s alone make the sign interactive - this is a massive part of its attraction. #SitTo
For @100in1dayTO a group of friends wanted to give people more places to sit so they set up a bunch of chairs in different places around the city. They called it #sitTO
Almost every time I walk through my neighbourhood park in freezing weather, I see people eating outside on the chairs and benches. It’s a testament to the COVID-19 era (currently indoor dining is not permitted in Ontario), but also due to making seating readily available. #sitTO.
Queen St. W. is lousy for places to sit, while Queen St. E. is terrific in comparison. I once found myself in Leslieville at night and sat on a bench for a while just because it was possible. #sitTO
Have a Seat? How Seating Shapes Welcoming Cities. Just putting a seat out makes a strong statement... including whether you are welcome or not. via @sociallifeproj ow.ly/to1m50GMktz
Has the @FSToronto taken cues from #SitTO? Either way, kudos to whomever added seating to the parkette out front.
I feel like plastic Muskoka chairs are one of the unsung but brilliant innovations of public space and #sitTO in recent years. Love seeing them in parks, by the waterfront trail, etc.
Suggestion for Old City Hall. Give the people what they want: wider sidewalks, pathways & a usable public space. Oh! And #sitTO. #TOcore
Love this idea - one guy has put 115 benches across San Francisco. #SitTO theguardian.com/cities/2018/se…
With added seating, Yorkville Rose Garden now an incredible, welcoming public space. Thanks @FSToronto! #SitTO
:) RT @evdelen: Great reaction to the #SitTO chairs in front of the Royal Conservatory on this #OpenStreetsTO

#playTO and #sitTO at @VillageMirvish for @OpenStreetsTO! Imagining a future of more age-friendly streets.
#Toronto tweets its way to becoming the world’s most sittable city with the #sitTO hashtag: bit.ly/2dh8PTe
Loving the new red chairs in our outdoor rose garden... Perfect for reading or people watching! 👌🏼 #SitTO #Yorkville
This is great - #SitTO advocates calling for more outdoor seating in #Toronto: thestar.com/news/gta/2016/… @TorontoStar
