Thanks @adenaschachner and @miriamlense for the opportunity to share my career stories with prospective PhD students at #SMPC2022! Great advice from all the panelists that I could have really used all those years ago! These sessions are so important.

I was extremely proud to have three of my students/collaborators present their poster "Racial and Gender Bias in Musical Assessments" at #SMPC2022. The work shows how the same piece of music is rated differently depending on the composer's expressed identity.

Many of these patterns replicated in subsequence online concerts by BTS, as I shared a stats-heavy analysis for #SMPC2022. But there is no video of that talk, so those numbers will have to wait for the eventual paper.
Finn Upham bringing K-pop to #smpc2022. Interesting exploration of fan-fan interaction during virtual BTS concerts. Neat use of data gathered from Twitter in real time which revealed that people reproduce some of their live concert behaviors on social media during virtual events.
Bldg on #smpc2022 momentum, here’s a paper I published this yr! Learning about others' musicality impacts really important social decisions (eg how wrong you think it is to harm them) & signals higher mental traits like emotionality and intelligence. doi.org/10.1177/030573… 1/7

Today is my first day back at my desk in two weeks and while at #smpc2022 and on holiday, one thing I couldn't seem to shut up about was #GTD. It's the dawn of a new academic year for many of us, so as I settle back into things, I think I'm going to proselytize a bit for it since
