Everything done in science is done by people so people are THE key to linking all other data online - providing these people have persistent identifiers. Says @cabbageleek at "Unique People are Priceless" workshop #spnhc2022. cc @ORCID_Org @wikidata

A specimen is so much more than what's immediately apparent, this extended linked network of information sources and links to other specimen is one of my favourite things about the field of biodiversity informatics! #spnhc2022
Had a fantastic time @SPNHC2022 last week - so good to meet up in person at last with the wonderful @SPNHC, @BioDivLibrary, & @Nat_SCA folk & the wider community of natural history collections folk #spnhc2022 Thank you to all involved!
Apols for quality of my screen image - I’m virtually attending #spnhc2022 @BioDivLibrary @Nat_SCA brilliant conference from home. As one of the contributing authors, it was great to watch @claredrinkell @Nina_Davies7 present on the new ed of ‘The HerbariumHandbook’. Go herbaria!
The attendees of the Unique People are Priceless workshop are about to get busy on a "choose your own entropy-reducing adventure" via disambiguation chaos. #PeoplePower #spnhc2022 @idbdeb @cabbageleek @BionomiaTrack @wikidata @ORCID_Org
Fab talk by Hannah Bendull on bryophyte backlogs at herbaria and why they persist, I FEEL SEEN 👀 #SPNHC2022
For #MolluscMonday here’s a throwback to #SPNHC2022 where we shared updates on the Mollusca Types in Britain & Ireland project with @NHM_London. We’re steaming ahead with the support of our amazing partners & funding from @EllermanUK!

Was great to be part of the #spnhc2022 and meet new faces in the community dedicated to the preservation and sharing of Natural History Collections . We hope you all enjoyed your visit to Edinburgh! ( any chance to give the rare books an outing is cherished!) #librarylife
Last week we tagged along on tours of our Natural Science collections as part of this year's @SPNHC conference. #spnhc2022 We thought you lot might like a peep inside our stores too, so here's a veritable buffet of natural history treats (please don't eat anything, though)! 🧵
Excellent overview of the vital importance of marine collections from Elena Guerrero @ICMCSIC @SPNHC2022 #spnhc2022 this morning. I will be introducing the marine invertebrates collection @NatSciNMS @NtlMuseumsScot tomorrow. #unitedforbiodiversity
THAT’S A WRAP FOLKS! First up, thank YOU, the 621 delegates that participated in our 1st hybrid meeting! Special thanks go to all of you that delivered talks & posters. Truly inspiring to see such great work has progressed despite the challenges of the last 2 yrs. #spnhc2022 🧵
Poster, posters, POSTERS! Don’t forget to check out the wonderful selection of posters in our poster gallery, via the meeting app. #spnhc2022
Rocking my favorite #spnhc2022 purchase from Edinburgh Scotland: woven scarf from Jacob Sheep wool. 🐏🤩
OMG I have never taken a scope photo this clear with my phone - thanks to @BobGooday talk at #SPNHC2022 . 👀 that crisp edge!!
This is basically how I approached my trip to Scotland for #spnhc2022 except without the portable air purifier for my hotel room.
What if students get stranded in Alaska with COVID? Do societies have funds in place to help offset the costs? I didn't even think about this till students got stuck in Scotland for #spnhc2022.
This is good advice. I escaped the #spnhc2022 conference Covid free, but many did not. I was extremely vigilant and restrictive in my actions in ways that are not practical or safe for all.

Got my email request for #spnhc2022 post-conference survey. I encourage everyone to respond & say what needs to be said. Still supremely disappointed I caught Covid there & there were ZERO mechanisms in place to alert others.
Oh! Hope this did not lessen your experience of #spnhc2022. Exited to do some collaboration on sawfish saws we got :)
After a horrendous saga of canceled US flights I finally made it home from #spnhc2022! I had the absolute best conference experience at SPNHC and met some amazing people! I also had the chance to talk about one of my PhD chapters and the talk went great 🎉! Thanks @SPNHC2022
Monday is my first day back in the office after two back-back conferences. Before I can take a breath, I'll be supervising three #WorkExperience students. But after the two years those kids have just had, it's the most important thing I could be doing... #VALA2022 #spnhc2022
I’m 5 days post flight home from #spnhc2022 (8 days post banquet). Still feel a-ok. Have taken 6 rapid tests and 1 PCR, all are still negative. Have been masking at home just in case.
And that’s a wrap for fabulous #VALA2022 (and sensational #spnhc2022). Now I just have to get home without falling asleep on the tram… 🚃😴
Leadership Cauldron #VALA2022 and @nicolekearney nails good leadership is about trust - trust going both ways too. Have had relationships with trust and without and definitely blossomed with the former
As I watch presentations I missed while attending #SPNHC2022 I'm doing some @BionomiaTrack work. This is the father of the more famous (at least to me!) Ellys Theodora Butler.
Rewatching as well as catching up on presentations at #SPNHC2022 via the conference portal. Currently watching @gillesdoignon giving a wonderful keynote on the Global Coalition for Biodiversity. He's encouraging everyone to help preserve biodiversity #UnitedForBiodiversity
Oh no, there’s a bunch of #spnhc2022 participants stuck in hotels in #Edinburgh with #Covid. Seems like it was a bit of a #SuperSpreaderEvent. Let us @NatSciNMS know if you need a food package ⛑!

...Contacting those I remember being esp close to at #spnhc2022 towards the end of the week - recommend being cautious & testing regularly, esp around more vulnerable friends, family, & colleagues (2/2)
(for those who didn't see my QT, adding as a comment here too) ...Just a heads up though, #spnhc2022 goers - I tested positive for covid on my return home. The last few days have been pretty horrid (thank goodness for vaccinations - it could be so much worse)... (1/2)
