⛷Skiers and the role of the magnetic field in the formation and evolution of molecular clouds @LauraMFissel #TracingTheFlow
Aprendí mucho en la conferencia de esta semana. Lo mas importante: el éxito de una conferencia científica también se mide en la diversidad de sus participantes y el ambiente que permite el intercambio de ideas. #TracingTheFlow
Youngest astronomer I've ever seen, accompanied by his lovely supervisor (mum) Rowan Smith, here to tell us all about filaments and massive star formation #scientistswithkids #TracingTheFlow
Simply stunning ALMA and JVLA data from Crystal Brogan, outflows, masers, and shocks, oh my! #tracingtheflow #highmassSF
Mark Thompson: Do we need more dust continuum surveys? Yes, for polarimetry surveys tracing magnetic fields. #tracingtheflow
A proper summit celebration on yesterday's hike up #Helvellyn. With @annalikesstars @keflavich, Steve, and Jonathan #tracingtheflow
Beautiful map spectral line map of carbon sulfide in the Vela C star forming cloud presented by Shari Breen. #tracingtheflow
Aida Ahmadi shows a map of the stability parameter for a disk around a forming massive star. The orange and yellow regions are where a smaller star could start forming. #tracingtheflow
Really nice talk on magnetic fields in star formation by Gemma Busquets. My favorite result was Gemma showing that core scale magnetic fields somehow know about the cloud scale field in a massive star forming region! #tracingtheflow
First stage of any discussion session on star formation: agreeing on names/definitions for each of the types of structures we see in star forming clouds. #tracingtheflow
Shari Breen (@Sydney_Uni) presenting the beautiful MALT45 survey at #TracingTheFlow **whilst currently observing from 10,000 miles away**. “My computer keeps beeping. That’s the telescope, and apparently @CSIRO_ATNF ATCA wants attention. Sorry, telescope.”
Heading back to the US after a wonderful week in the UK at the #tracingtheflow massive star formation conference. Next up: our integration campaign for the @BLAST_TNG telescope in Palestine, Texas, where it will be considerably warmer than the Lake District!
Hanging out at Lake Windermere, UK this week to discuss high-mass star formation (efficiencies, feedback, surveys, etc.) and what uncharacteristically great weather England is having. #TracingTheFlow
Poster flash talks at #TracingTheFlow! Awesome (and very distilled) 1 minute talks advertising each of the posters being presented.
Johnny Henshaw and @YanettCM leading a mid-week discussion on molecular clouds, filaments, and Galactic scale star formation at #TracingTheFlow.
Let’s look two decades in the future with Dimitra Rigopoulou from @UniofOxford! (@NASAOriginsTele, SPICA, HARMONI ELT, FIRSPEX) #TracingTheFlow
Congrats to Beth Jones & Kate Pattle, poster prize winners at the #tracingtheflow conference. Kate's work: 'The JCMT BISTRO Survey: first measurements of the magnetic field strength in the Pillars of Creation' and Beth's: 'The evolutionary status of methanol maser sources'.

And now #tracingtheflow has come to an end. A very stimulating and interactive discussion session this afternoon to close a jam packed week of great talks. Thanks @adam_avison, and the rest of the LOC, for putting on such a great meeting 👍
And we almost completely agree that the formation process of high-mass stars depends on environment #tracingtheflow
Final discussion section at #TracingTheFlow — pose a question, split into camps, discuss for five minutes, have junior researchers synthesize results. (Steve Longmore, Jonathan Tan) Scientific debate >>> 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
So far, most people don't think high-mass pre-stellar cores exist, as clearly discrete self-gravitating entities containing the entire mass of the star, but they'd be rare and short-lived, therefore difficult to find, so still uncertain. #tracingtheflow

#tracingtheflow Next time we (Massive star forming astronomers) meet will be in China! thank you Siyi Feng for that announcement. Great to see this meeting coming to East Asia!

Full strength MALT45 survey... 2700 hours of 7mm glory at the Australia Telescope National Facility! Shari Breen watching a different kind of baby (observing at ATCA now) while giving her #tracingtheflow talk. Badass.
@eao_jcmt "Star Former our Galaxy needs you" - Mark Thompson. In particular: Transient program and BISTRO program #tracingtheflow
@eao_jcmt Role in current and past Galactic Plane Surveys, as discussed by Mark Thompson includes, JPS, SASSY, COHRS, CHIMPS, CHIMPS2, #tracingtheflow
Mark Thompson: Do we need more dust continuum surveys? Yes, for polarimetry surveys tracing magnetic fields. #tracingtheflow
Thompson: MeerKAT will be inaugurated on Friday, and data cannot be made public until the SA president has seen them. But they are exquisite 😍 #tracingtheflow
Thompson: the combination of the ATLASGAL and @ESAHerschel HiGAL survey has provided a fantastic dataset of clumps with physical properties & distances (work by J. Urquhart), allowing statistical studies. #TracingTheFlow
Mark Thompson (@UniofHerts) : Galactic Plane Surveys are like buses. A very British statement. #TracingTheFlow
