To attract employment to sub-centres, they need to be appealing places. #TransformYonge was about this (before Council ruined it). When we investigated why we were underperforming re: employment targets, office tenants wanted a walkable, urban place - not a building on a highway.
The way we've been approaching regional sub-centres has been wrong; we've been skipping key steps and using the dream of these places to sell megaprojects rather than starting humbly, creating small beach-heads and building off them.

To elaborate on @g_meslin's thread—people are not *actually* inconvenienced. The threat is symbolic, psychological. They're threatened by what projects like #KingStreetPilot and #TransformYonge *represent*.
City council is resuming - will be more speeches on #TransformYonge plan to enliven and make safer Yonge from Sheppard to Finch and then a vote. At the moment, it is not looking good for bike lanes on Yonge St.
