#TTRPGTHOUGHTS Our hobby is tiny. I was at a big Science Fiction convention once with many strands, one of which was gaming. At the same venue was a single Indian Wedding. Both events were the same size. Our events pale in comparison next to, say, San Diego Comic-Con. 1/3

#TTRPGTHOUGHTS SciFi TV series make great bases for #TTRPG campaigns/games because they tend to feature an ensemble spaceship crew. Novels and movies usually focus on more singular protagonists but TV series need to share the narrative around for production purposes. 1/2

#TTRPGTHOUGHTS At a convention I’m normally fair with the allocation of Pregens. But if I’m running a Blakes Seven scenario and you politely ask to play Avon or Vila, I won’t allow it. You want to play one of these two, turn up and just grab the sheet.

#TTRPGTHOUGHTS A warning to all you younger players in the hobby. You might not be able to afford all the games and gear you want. But you can get together with friends to play. Money poor but time rich. As you get older, you’ll be able to buy whatever you want. 1/2

#TTRPGTHOUGHTS When my sons and his friends were growing up through their teenage years, 18 certificate films - which they were too young to watch - were a great sources of instant ideas. The squad of Stormtroopers they acquired all had individual names & personalities. 1/2

#TTRPGTHOUGHTS still on the subject of art. Has anyone ever “adjusted” a product to fit available Stock Art? I have included an encounter to use an image. I have on my shelf an SHRTRPG where the author clearly rinsed their Adobe sub. For every Superhero or adjacent image.

#ttrpgthoughts writing a #ttrpg game book I include 5 example characters. For the last decade I’ve tried to give enough variety for everyone. But there’s a lot of letters in LGBTQIA+ , even ignoring the +. And now there’s wheelchairs. Being Woke is getting harder.

#TTRPGTHOUGHTS There are only fiction 7 plots. There is only so much stuff. Very little is original. Just about everything is pastiche now. I think I’d rather have a pastiche (something that pretends to be new but is made up from bits of other things) than a reboot or a rewrite.

#RPGaDay2024 #TTRPGTHOUGHTS 1. First RPG bought this year - I don’t think I have. Last one I remember getting was drivethrurpg.com/en/product/410… . Mid-war Savage Worlds shenanigans. Like Indiana Jones on steroids. I’m listed as a playtester. My character is in the book. Recommended.
