Verkle trees will be a key ingredient to scale Ethereum. They were introduced only 5 years ago. So what's the difference? In a Merkle Tree, a parent node is the hash of its children. In a Verkle Tree, a parent node is the Vector Commitment of its children. math.mit.edu/research/highs…
