I built an app that many people in one specific office use. perfect internet connection, not far from the server, using chrome. That office in particular hits bugs on a scale I have not experience before. Enduring my most excruciating debugging experience to date in my career.
Recently I had a conversation with a $100M Healthcare firm they told me their wordpress nightmare site was working fine friday afternoon Monday morning it shows white screen hosting says: not us theme developer says: not us plugin developers: not us (x12) hired emergency…
CSS is still a fundamentally messy shit, and it can't be fixed without breaking compatibility
Starting out as a web developer. When starting out as a web developer can be exhausting, you might feel the pressure to memorize every code and it functionality. Well, stop for a bit. Web development is about understanding and solving problems, not some kind of memory test. 🧵
Spent 3 hours debugging a CSS bug. The fix? One stray semicolon. Web dev keeps you humble. Every line matters, even the ones you can't see.
Software development is fun… until CORS shows up, scalability breaks, production bugs appear, traffic hits, time-zones confuse you, SEO drags you, Webpack humbles you, CSS specificity fights you, custom promises stress you, and memory leaks hide everywhere
You did just say "web devs". The problem isn't the developers. The problem is that the technology was made to utilise web tech to build desktop apps... and that tech has never been improved upon. Crazy how you think web development and desktop development are the same.
🚀Day 42 #WebDev Covered: • Why side effects must run after render • Fixing infinite loops in API calls • Timers + cleanup to avoid memory leaks • Correct async pattern • Dependency arrays (run once vs run on change) • Controlled vs uncontrolled inputs @rohit_negi9 #React
Spent the entire day troubleshooting website: DNS, Cloudflare Workers, GitHub Pages, SSL validation… Sometimes patience is the hardest part of web development. #WebDev #Cloudflare #GitHubPages"
Modern web development is a total mess with too many frameworks and libraries to choose from, its getting to the point where simple tasks require hours of research just to get started
The issue is main thread blocking. 🛑 My first build sent too much JavaScript. The timeline had a lot of long tasks (red blocks) that made the UI freeze while the browser read scripts. The user experience got worse. SEO took a hit.
webdev in a nutshell: no change in the last 6 months, build breaks anyway
I feel like being one version behind on WordPress is more of a "notice" than an "issue". What do y'all think?
Other challenges: • WebSocket connection drops • DOM timing issues • PDF extraction quirks • Multi client sync stabilityEach solved with error handling + lots of persistence.
📌 If this feels familiar… Comment “Site”, I’ll send you practical fixes you can apply today.
Marketing in Web3 for 5 years, I’ve had hundreds of discovery calls. Found the 3 biggest problems : > Obsessing over features > Ignoring user psychology > Assuming utility speaks for itself Teams who fix this are ahead of 99%.b
When you spend weeks coding up a design then your boss comes in changes everything up and removes the work that you did #WebDevProblems
