One of my favourite local farm fields, such a resource for pollinators. Acres of Dandelions & Lady's smock. #wildflowerhour
Wallflowers do literally thrive on walls. The seeds are said to have arrived with the Caen limestone William the Conqueror imported from Normandy to build his castles from 1066 onwards. #CabbageFamily #WildflowerHour
#wildflowerhour #whiteflowers #violets I was pleased to come across these white sweet violets in Snettisham.
Creeping Willow also flowering now, attracting Heath Bumblebees and others. This patch was particularly vibrant with striking rainbow colours #WildflowerHour
This magnificently mutated Lesser Celandine was easily our favourite flower of the week - truly outstanding in its field 😆 #WildflowerHour
Looking like they’d been freshly gilded and polished, these flowers were almost too bright to look at. I’m not sure if they’re bulbous buttercup or something else, I just know that I love them. #WildflowerHour
So much happening on the woodland floor, local Hazelwoods. Opposite leaved Golden saxifrage, Primrose & Lesser celandines. #wildflowerhour
Lady’s smock (cuckoo flower) — four petals in a cross, a quiet member of the cabbage family. One of the wildflowers I wait for each spring — and with it, the return of orange tip butterflies. Their first food. Their beginning. — with my artwork. #WildflowerHour #CabbageFamily
Lesser Celandine (Ficaria verna) - the favourite flower of William Wordsworth #storyplants for #wildflowerhour
Rathlin doesn't have any Cowslips for the #CowslipChallenge this week, so instead we will boast about our Pyramidal Bugles again 😄 Looking really good now - found some wonderful patches with loads of flowers, and even a few in a new location #WildflowerHour

Wild Clary, Salvia verbenaca, at Durlston CP at the weekend. Not a species I’ve seen before - not really a Kent spp according to the @NBNAtlas though I don’t know why as soils seem similar… @BSBIbotany @DorsetWildlife #WildflowerHour
#WildflowerHour If you want to find paradise, follow the #flowers. And if you can’t find them, grow them yourself—it’s the best way to get your chi and vitamin D. #FL 💛*.

One of the joys of Pyramidal Bugles is how they surprise us every year - found these hairy purple beauties popping up in several new locations on Rathlin this week, including a spectacular dense patch with over 200 spikes 🤯 #WildflowerHour
Bog Myrtle is another Rathlin rarity - we only know of one location where it grows on the island. Passed by the special spot earlier this week so made sure to enjoy the opening flowers and wonderful smell, always a treat at this time of year #WildflowerHour
