Luis Robert Jr. is the definition of a change of scenery guy. Mets get an elite defensive CF with pop who crushes left-handed pitching. This also allows Carson Benge to stay in LF. His contract allows Mets to go year to year with him which is a bonus.

The Mets got an ace without giving up Tong, McClean, Benge, Reimer, Ewing or Peña and people are somehow complaining. Jett had no place on this team (like Acuña) for a long time. Losing Sproat could hurt, I will admit, but we got an ace and a very competent reliever for it.

If Bo balls out, he’s gonna opt out. Then it becomes a debate of whether you’d have Skubal or Bo in FA, and you’d be a fool to think Bo will be better than Skubal long-term. Baty is going to be the McNeil utility replacement, and Benge is one of the best prospects in the league.
Yeah I feel like he’d rather take 1/$7m from someone like Kansas City where he could end up with an everyday role than taking that with just the opportunity to win the job in the spring but being up against Benge.

At least this year there are contingencies. 1. More time for Tong to develop in the minors. Scott being healthy. And now even Meyers added to the equation gives them 9 solid options at SP. 2 and 3. Feels like they need one of Baty/Vientos/Alvy/Benge to blossom this season.

I’m kinda hoping we land another starter like Valdez, move Holmes to the pen (even though I do think he was respectable as a starter), then trade some of our excess pitching for a depth outfield bat/a safety net if benge isn’t ready at all. I love the team already tho.
Give the Tigers any package of prospects not named Benge or McLean for Skubal and we are right there with there with the top teams

LF- Tucker is undeniably better than Baty, even if it’s Benge, advantage Tucker easy. CF- Robert is a better Glove then Pages RF- Soto is way better Bat, Hernandez is a far superior RF. So it’s much closer but, still the dodgers have a better lineup
