People must forget that Journalism ran in all three legs of the Triple Crown last year at a very high level and won the Preakness. It can be done, trainers just take the easy way out now.

You can't "push the Preakness back" to save the Triple Crown. The quick turnaround is a big part of what makes the achievement spectacular. Pushing would permanently devalue the crown. What you actually need is a commitment from all Derby entrants to race in the Preakness.

I kept hearing that (even from the trainer) so I went and looked it up 1 1/4 mile for the Derby 1 3/16 of a mile for the Preakness. So about 110 yards shorter. I knew Belmont was longer but not right now at Saratoga.
