Our consultant Adam spotted one of the oldest and largest Handkerchief Trees, Davidia involucrata, at Batsford Arboretum in the cotswolds.
So happy to see this Wild Service Tree this week. First time I've seen this rare ish tree growing wild in the UK. It's fussy (needs shade, doesn't germinate without intense cold followed by a long period of warm weather). This tree is an indicator species of Ancient Woodland.
Do trees talk to each other? I hope so... this is a fascinating subject.
