no but do people not realise, people with adhd generally DON’T want to let others down or cause extra stress for anyone?

"Understood" Being understood makes me feel safe... But the opposite is also true... Sometimes, no matter what I do or say, it is misunderstood. It hurts so much... I try so hard.

#adhd Pro tip: when you have a lot to do, do the easy things on your list FIRST. If you try to start with the hardest thing (or the thing you least want to do) you will avoid starting, and get nothing on your list done. Start with the easy stuff and check most of your list off!

We have come a long way in de-stigmatising some mental illnesses like anxiety and depression. But the stigma around schizophrenia, psychosis and personality disorders remains as high as ever. People are labelled as all sorts - ‘sick in the head’, ‘crazy’, etc and it’s not ok.

Neurotypical people really need to learn that this is erasure and gaslighting. It's not kindness. We're not saying this about ourselves as an insult to ourselves and to show that you see it that way is hurtful and will damage the trust between us

I can see why people do this. I think it's natural to want to reassure someone that everything will be okay, and many people think that okay and "normal" are the same thing. But I KNEW something was up, and I wasn't okay.

it’s so embarrassing to be mean! aren’t you embarrassed when you’re mean to someone?

Today's dopamine fix was brought to you by: over-shopping at the toy store. I am an adult, I have no children... these toys are for me. #whyamilikethis

Your value is not rooted in your productivity. It’s so difficult for many of us dealing with health issues, physical and/or mental, to be productive. We tend to compare ourselves to other or “better” versions of ourselves. Regardless of your productivity, you’re valuable.

Less girls being diagnosed than boys does not mean that there are less autistic girls than boys. Gender inequality in diagnostic services and assessment criteria’s exists.

A reminder that in some areas of England, 13 times as many boys are diagnosed autistic as girls. In other areas, only 2 times as many. That's not some miraculous geographic anomaly, that's a difference in diagnostic teams. (THREAD)

Me rn finally free from my debilitating ALLERGIES. Today is the first day in 2 weeks I haven't been stuffy, sneezing, coughing every waking moment.

“Everyone gets distracted sometimes!” ADHD isn’t sometimes. It’s every second of every day, in every area of my life. This thread is a good summary of the non-stop internal chaos:
