🚀 Prophet v3 is out! AI that predicts how cells respond to genetic & chemical perturbations across readouts. Now scales to 1.9 M molecules + in vitro validation of melanoma-specific hits 🧬💊 📄 biorxiv.org/content/10.110… #AI #Biology #DeepLearning
🚀 Our new Science paper is out (w/ B DeMeo, D Burkhardt, A Shalek, M Cortes): science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… We show that active learning + transcriptomic perturbations can guide which exps to run next, boosting phenotypic hit rates >13x. AI not just predicting bio, but designing it.🔁
Congratulations @Yoshua_Bengio!! Possibly the first scientist with one million citations in the world. Crazy how fast the field has grown 🤯
We had our first-ever Lotfollahi Lab retreat. Science, fun, and a lot of laughter all at once! 🎉 Big shoutout to our amazing experimental team and collaborators for bringing so much energy and inspiration 🌲🧬
A student who truly understands F=ma can solve more novel problems than a Transformer that has memorized every physics textbook ever written.

ve started a tradition in the lab: making Tahchin (Persian saffron rice cake 😋) to celebrate every paper submission! This time, some of our PhD students joined in. Amazing job, everyone — lots of exciting science coming soon!”
The goal of a PhD is not to learn some facts or read a few papers or learn a bunch of techniques. The goal of a PhD is to learn independence, problem solving, how to finish things you start, resilience, & gain the ability to adapt & think creatively. Learning these things is hard
🚨Moving from Cambridge to Oxford! After my PhD at @sangerinstitute and @Cambridge_Uni I’m leaving Cambridge, which I called my second home to start as a Postdoc at @UniofOxford @MRC_WIMM in Sumana Sharma’s group ! Grateful for the journey so far and excited for what’s ahead! 🎉
Attending #ISMB2025 and honored to be recognized as a Fellow of the International Society for Computational Biology (@iscb Class of 2025)
🚨 We're hiring! Apply for the Sanger Excellence Fellowship to join our lab at the intersection of AI & biomedical science at @sangerinstitute Open to early-career researchers from Black heritage backgrounds. 🔗 Apply: sanger.wd103.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/Wellcome…
Four more days to apply for postdoc and ML research scientist positions in my lab at @sangerinstitute at intersection of AIxBio
🚨 We’re hiring @sangerinstitute! Join us as a Postdoc or ML Scientist to build generative & foundation models for biology. 🧬 Spatial + single-cell omics 🧠 Diffusion, transformers, multimodal data 💊 Drug discovery via Open Targets Apply: Postdocs in computational biology…
We’re kicking off the first session of the #AIxBio conference at @sangerinstitute with Hani Goodarzi @genophoria, from Arc institute, discussing LLM applications in RNA biology.
I'm honoured to join @CRUK_CI and @Cambridge_Uni as a Junior Group Leader of AI for Cancer. My group will focus on reasoning, multimodality, hypothesis-making, and more to decode disease and health. A few positions are opened — consider applying to outsmart cancer together!
We are delighted to welcome @hana_aliee to the Institute. She joins as a Junior Group Leader and will lead her team in developing AI models to understand the molecular mechanisms driving health and disease. Find out more: cruk.cam.ac.uk/news/dr-hana-a…
