Basically everything I thought I knew about autism before I found out I was autistic was wrong. That’s how I know for a fact that so much of the information society tells us about autism is wrong and how this can have devastating consequences for autistic people.
When I read the Americans w/ Disabilities Act, my first thought was about how expensive & complicated it was going to be. If my #empathy muscle had been stronger, I would have seen past the compliance difficulties. Laws are not the answer to discrimination & bias. Empathy IS.
